Found this place while looking for something different since I work in the area… I love Hispanic food but I was slightly tired of eating the same Mexican-style dishes. I saw that this place was Cuban, and thought to give it a try since I don’t really get to try other types of Hispanic food.

When I first walked in, I immediately noticed how clean this place was and the amount of artistic aesthetic glowing from each wall. My head kept turning and scanning the room. Very warm and comfortable… I even changed my mind from doing takeout to eating inside. As of right now, this is my third time visiting this place and just today there was a man singing while playing the guitar. It was beautiful.

Even though I already knew what I wanted, I still looked at the menu to see all their options and prices. I was surprised at how affordable these prices were compared to other restaurants in the area post inflation. Sandwhiches were about $8-$9 bucks and if you want a double or extra toppings it was about $11 in total, not including the drink though, and to add cheese was only 50 cents.

I knew I wanted one of those flatbread sandwhiches I saw when I searched this place on Google so I ended up ordering a Bistek Double with french fries and a Horchata. I sat and waited maybe 6 minutes and my food was ready (it was the only person there at the time). My food was brung to me by a male server, but before he brought me the food he went to a fridge and took a bottle of yellow sauce out, and brought my food and the bottle to me. I asked what this yellow sauce was and he said it was hotsauce for my fries. Generally I don’t eat that much traditional hotsauce like Louisiana or Redhot, but I do enjoy the green and red sauces I get with Mexican food, so I decided to give this mysterious yellow sauce a try — and good googly moogly, this sauce was the f*cking BOMB. I completely destroyed those fries…and when my sandwhich came, I put yellow sauce on that too. The sandwhich was perfect: the steak meat was nice and tender, the onions and tomato blended in perfectly, the cheese pull was glorious, and the crunch on that bread was unbelievable how it held everything together into a solid sandwhich. That hot sauce is downright addictive. I tried to ask what type of sauce was it, and I was told that it was a mix between green and red peppers with seasoning. It’s not super hot but it does have a kick to it. The horchata knocked out all of the heat after a couple sips anyway so my overall eating experience was very comfortable.

I’ve already recommended my coworkers and family to this place, it’s my new hidden gem. I will definitely be back to try...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yesenia Cafeteria, a Latin restaurant located in Chicago. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. The decor was colorful and vibrant, with Latin-inspired artwork adorning the walls and a lively energy in the air.

But the real star of the show at Yesenia Cafeteria was the food. I started off with one of their breakfast sandwiches, which was absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors and textures was perfect, and the sandwich was served on a fresh and flavorful roll. The coffee was also excellent - smooth and rich, with just the right amount of kick.

In addition to the breakfast sandwiches, I also tried a few of their other dishes and was equally impressed. The portions were generous and the flavors were bold and authentic. I particularly enjoyed the empanadas, which were packed with a flavorful filling and served with a side of tangy salsa.

Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Yesenia Cafeteria. The food was top-notch, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious Latin cuisine in a casual and welcoming setting.

Do yourself a favor and try their food, the people are...

Love this place. Family owned all the staff is great they make you feel at home. The home like furniture makes it feels really COZY they also have WiFi (BIG PLUS).

I’ve come here for a whole meal, take out or just coffee and work on stuff on my laptop and it’s always a great experience.

The kids menu is perfect! I’ve tried all their Sandwiches and I can’t say there is one that does not top the charts. I would recommend the empanadas (veggies or chicken) to start off.

They have a great green salsa to accompany your food and AMAZING...

I found this gem on Yelp. I was looking for a spot to grab lunch and I’m glad I came across this Cuban food restaurant. First I tried the beef and chicken empanadas and they were great, I loved the salsa verde on them. For lunch I had the lechón encebollado with garlic tostones. I was quickly impressed. The food was rich and flavorful. The portions were big and had enough to take home for later. My Wife had the bistek encebollado and same, delicious! Altogether for two ppl I paid $36+ tip. Very happy with my first experience.

Don’t know if it was bcuz I came in while the owner and a staff member were having their lunch or because they were about to close (next hr.) etc. I definitely didn't feel welcomed. No one didn't get up nor said hello, until I spoke. Made a trip only to try the Cafe con leche, which was a bit too milky. Sandwich Cubano was tender and seasoned good, but unevenly made & needed more ham. Would've came back to try their ice cream 🍦 if the service had been better.
