Cholies Pizza — Restaurant in Lake Township

PRICE: Cholie’s is known for its warm building and cheap albeit good food. Typically you can buy 3-4 items under $10! To say this is a student based restaurant is an understatement: students love this place, whether from the high school or University. It’s cheap eats!

Quality or Quantity?: The food quality is good. It’s not outstanding like Giordanos or Italian Fiesta but for the price, it’s overwhelming good. They have an arrangement of other food items like the fries, pizza, burgers, and chicken wings. It’s an assortment of foods that people just want. I’d heavily advise you to visit this place.

Cleanliness: Cholie’s is a clean establishment. Usually during the time that students aren’t visiting, very early morning or later in the day, you can find an employee cleaning up before the impending rush hour of students and Hyde Park residents. It’s very small though, it can accommodate about 12-20 people. It has about three tables or so for customers waiting on food. If you want to avoid this, call the number beforehand to preorder and just pick it up. It has the smell of baking and food so it’s pleasant.

My personal experince: However my experience wasn’t at pleasant. Typically I go here once of twice a week, hence the “student loves this food view” ala me. However, the cashier, a sweet but senior lady, overcharged me. Naturally, when you pay via card, you don’t know. Just remember to pay exactly to not get accidentally stiffed. She’s old, I guess I can’t blame her for that mistake. (My issue was resolved and I called my bank for the cancellation of the overcharge of $15.)

Overall: I’d advise going to Cholies. It’s pros overwhelming outweighs the cons. It’s a nice cheap eat that agrees with your taste...

I used to LOVE this place, literally my past 3 visits have been horrible. I ordered a medium pizza and it took them more than 2hrs. I called every hour and the girl on the phone kept changing the story from "it's on it's way" to it's bearly going in the oven and the other work too. Today, I ordered 2 simple pizzas. Two! One with pepperoni and bacon the other one with pineapple and bacon. Well they gave them both with pineapple. The girl seemed NOT believe me, that my order was wrong. Just took my food back in because as I’m eating my pizza in the car, luckily I look at my food while eating, because I came across a piece of hair, cooked into the pizza. It was stuck in the cheese. I had already had a few bites and this piece of hair was in the MIDDLE of the slice so it was definitely cooked in. I will be reporting this to the health department. That is absolutely disgusting.
