El Paso Zuliano — Restaurant in Lake Township

As Venezuelan it's amazing finding a place like this. We had a patacón and a cachapa with a basic arepa. We tried marquess de chocolate and tres leches as dessert and they were super sweet and rich. Ingredients are fresh and high quality and service is super kind. Food is as I remember is served in our lovely Maracaibo. They get the right Venezuelan made cheese from Florida! (most of cheese in Venezuela are white, with different textures similar to a different combinations of mozzarella and ricotta and have a slight salty flavor). Priced right, decent portions. A nice place. Friendly & helpful service, very hospitable. We had steak with a side of sweet plantains and an arepa. Sides of black beans & rice might have been a better option. We also had patacon, which was stuffed with meat. It seems like most Venezuelan meat dishes are shredded, not my personal preference. Fried sweet bread was really tasty. Food was ok, maybe a little more than you'd expect, like my 12 oz can of Diet Coke was $1.99 & my dish was $16.99. But give it a try if you're looking for...

Wow!!!!!! This was such a treat. Having lived in Venezuela for ten years, it was amazing to be able to have Venezuelan cuisine exactly as I remembered it. Everything was delicious - the cachapas (and while their menu says “sour cream”, it’s not Mexican sour cream - it’s Venezuelan nata which is so so good!), the Bienmesabe, the everything!
