Falco's Pizza — Restaurant in Lake Township

People want to like Falcos and I can understand why. My in laws have been ordering there for decades. After a few underwhelming experiences I asked why and their response was that it's where they always ordered from. Unfortunately Falco's is at a place many long time family businesses find themselves - a couple generations of success and decades of built in allegiance based more on sentimentality than quality.

The issues (in my opinion).

I don't know if the dough isn't adequately proofed, or maybe recipe hasn't been updated to account for new processes/equipment, or perhaps they aren't sourcing quality ingredients but I can honestly say, without a shred of exaggeration, that you can find better crust on a $5.99 pizza in the frozen food section at Jewel than what Falco's is slinging. The crust is lacking in any kind of flavor and has the texture of stale bread.

Cheese is unevenly cooked and oftentimes smothers the pizza to the point that you can't taste anything else. And if you happen to get the pizza delivered, the pizza will harden bc there is so much and it's impossible for it to stay melted for so long. But maybe there is so much cheese bc the sauce is so bland.

Finally the service. The worst thing a business can do to its customers is waste their time. A bad pizza can be replaced, an incomplete order can be refunded or discounted. But nothing shows more disrespect to the customer than being lied to about their time. My partner and I moved to Little Village in May and we've been hunting for a noteworthy thin crust ever since our first week here. We order delivery a few times a month, and pizza is usually our go-to when we don't feel like cooking.

After trying several places a little closer to home and being met with very disappointing results (Looking at you Naty's...), we decided to branch out a little further south and give Falco's a try.

Let me just say, it was love at first bite!! Falco's delivered arguably THE BEST pizza we've had since moving to this side of town. I'm very pleased with the crust, which is something that is make-or-break for me, and the cheese blend and sausage they use on their pies is S T E L L A R!

The only reason I am awarding 4 stars for this review is that the order of calamari we received was less than palatable. I ended up throwing out the entire order because it was more close to jerky than it was calamari.

Not to be too hypercritical, but from my own years working in kitchens, it tasted like this batch was not marinated in any sort of tenderizer, it was sitting in the window for a long time, and/or that it was re-fried. I would not order or recommend the calamari again unless I was dining in and had the option to send it back if it came out rubbery again.

Falco's has definitely earned themselves a regular customer of their pizza, an we look forward to dining in...

Everything about this place was fine until the end. The waitress was surpising extremely nice! She was very content on showing me the vegan options and when I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan (which was actually really good a little oily but definitely filled me up.) She had doubled checked on everything with my order to not having cheese to no meat sauce on my pasta. My father had a burger which he said was good. The part where it went down hill was the pizza. If you are going to order vegan here definitely suggest you order your favorite toppings because if you don't then you'll end with veggies that you don't all love. I ordered half veggies including black and green olives with half pepperoni. When I got the pizza the veggie side was completely tainted in olives which at later didn't turn out so well. I mean when ordering I had no idea they would slap on some many olives I like olives but I don't love them as much as they put on. When we got home we discovered unfortunately half way through that the cheese smelled rotten it was NOT good. It smelled like they leave it out or something. Also the crust at the bottom had STUCK to the cardboard box so we were left with just toppings! I just couldn't believe it, this place is always so good with its pizzas and cheese fries.
