Harold's Chicken Shack #13 — Restaurant in Lake Township

I finally visited this restaurant, after always seeing it on the travel channel as a place to eat in Chicago. In addition, I went by two other locations, prior to finding this actual location. However, the other two locations were not in the best neighborhoods. Being that I had my children with me, I did not feel comfortable going in the two previous locations with my children (I'm from L.A. and worked as a Children's Social Worker Investigator with DCFS, so trust & believe I'm not bothered easily by visiting ANY neighborhood. However, I was with my children & I'm not familiar with Chicago, so I erred on the side of being cautious & not take my children in the two previous locations). Nevertheless, this specific location is in a large shopping center with good lighting and faces the street. In regards to the chicken, I'm not sure what all the buzz was about, but I purchased the fried chicken without sauce. However, the chicken was not seasoned whatsoever. I don't know if the big deal is the sauce, but that day I did not want wet chicken, I just wanted some fried chicken (I would have just thought that the chicken was seasoned, if I would have known I would have at least got my chicken w/ mild sauce). So if you are looking for some plain good fried chicken, I definitely would not recommend this place. Personally, even if fried chicken has sauce on it, I still like my chicken to be seasoned a little bit, but the chicken was unseasoned and just fried. This location was pretty busy (so at least you know you're getting fresh food for the most part) and your food is made to order. As far as the wait time, I waited long enough to be able to play a game of Mrs. Pac-Man, with enough wait time to get up to the screen that gives you the pear. Ordered via DoorDash 4/4/2024. Called in to ask for extra lemon of food and received food with extra extra salt, pepper, and lemon pepper. Young lady that answered the phone sounded very bothered by asking for extra lemon. Place an order today to try again 4/5/2024 because I’ve never had a problem with their food ever. The young lady (mind you it’s a different girl from last night or so it sounded like it) sounds very irritated at hello did not say good afternoon back when spoken to her, asked if the order for me could have extra lemon pepper and no salt or pepper specifically because of yesterday. Young lady responds I don’t have that order I respond with it says you all are preparing the order she responds hold on come back less than a minute later repeats my order with an attitude and then pause so no how may I help you (I didn’t mention I called before I place the order and was cut off and told to call after my order was placed)I say may I have that fried hard with extra lemon pepper please no salt and pepper please she says ok but why you didn’t put that in the special instructions I respond the restaurant does not give special instructions options. I kept composer and said ok thank you. Right after the thank you she hung up no your welcome or nothing as if she was owed the thank you when the little she did do was literally minute and she did not want to do that. Please allow special instructions options on DoorDash or hire people who actually like to come to work and represent the company in a proper manner. I went into this restaurant after calling for over an hour to place a order, and I asked the nasty, rude, wide face person behind the counter that ain't would call a cashier if they are accepting call in and if so what is the correct number she gave the number with attitude mad attitude at that, and a really f'd up disposition which made me really uncomfortable so another person came in and her attitude was the same with this person who was also trying to call and her excuse was we don't answer the phone when we are backed up honey there was no orders back there the cook was in the back NOT at the stove cooking so I'm confused. My only suggestion is don't eat there she is the leader of rude, ignorant, poor customer service and she was"The manager" more like the devil B herself, I got my money back because I can't trust someone with this type of attitude to feed me PERIODT!!! I can go to a real Harold's I'd rather eat from the Harold's truck before going in there again 87th is not far from me Not gone get my money!!!!
