Let me say first I would rate the food here at 3 stars. Not incredible, but for sushi in small town, it gets the job done. Prices are about what you would pay for slightly higher quality food, but again, given the location, it’s to be expected. The customer service is a different story. It would receive one star. Let me give you the context why they have lost my business. Since their opening earlier this year, certain elements have been chaotic. For instance, their website is rough. Almost impossible to find a menu on it. But when I’ve tried to get help, most of these attempts were shut down with a rude tone and a “you’re not doing it right” response. I had a few interactions like these, but because I want local businesses to succeed and I like having sushi close, I wrote it off as a language barrier or cultural differences. And not every employee was an issue; it was the same few people I struggled with. Unfortunately, these few people seem to be running the place. The proverbial straw that broke the camels back occurred when I attended a charitable organization dinner at Kiyomi. The organization had purchased a buffet option for all its guests at $11.95 per person. They were honoring my mother, who works with the homeless, and one of her residents, who had turned her life around by kicking drugs, getting a job, that kind of thing. The resident arrived at kiyomi still wearing her factory uniform. She was told by the manager at Kiyomi that because of her appearance, she was not welcome to eat there. Beyond a little grease on the uniform, there was nothing wrong with her appearance. My mother explained to the manager that this dinner was primarily to honor the achievements this woman had made. After arguing for a few minutes, the manager just walked away. The woman was embarrassed, but my mom convinced her to sit down and at least stay till she received her award. When my family and I arrived, we found the restaurant full of people attending this event. There was one open table, and because there was no one seating guests, we made our to this table. The same manager came and rudely demanded that we could not sit there. When we pointed out that there were no other open tables, and this table was in the middle of the group we had been invited to join, he again just left without saying anything. Surrounding tables had witnessed the exchange and encouraged us to sit down and ignore him. We had already paid, so we did, but did not feel welcomed in the least. Because of this establishments prejudice towards people who appear different and their attitude towards my family, I’m...
Read moreNot from around here. Just here briefly and wanted some good food and a couple good drinks. I left mad as an Asian hornet! The greeter was the only bright spot of the entire establishment. For starters, the margaritas are straight from the bottle, not tequila added separately. Jose Cuervo to be exact. Didn’t ask how I wanted it and I had to stop her before she made it frozen for on the rocks. Weak! Ordered the seared salmon, and got slices of the pretty much raw, MAYBE smoked salmon slices that most places use for sushi. Ate a couple pieces because I was starved. Ordered the steak habachi with salmon combo. She didn’t ask how I wanted the steak and if course it came out well done and tough as shoe leather. And the salmon that was used was made from the frozen salmon Walmart sales by the bag. Very thin and very dry. Total let down. The worse part of it was I literally caught the waitress looking over my shoulder as I’m filling out my receipt adding the tip portion. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. But my companion filled out his and the lady literally complained about the amount. I am having a hard time thinking of a worse dining experience. I don’t even want to see this building again. I would sign a petition to close this place if there were one in circulation. Do not come here. You’ve been warned. And if the owner wants to respond, start by issuing...
Read moreThere are a few reasons why I’m giving such a poor rating. First, unfortunately I wasn’t able to get my order on Mother’s Day. It would be nice if there was an email or text system in place to tell customers when their orders are ready for pickup. Instead we have a huge group of people in front of the store waiting for their phone number to be added to a board. So I decided to pass on Mother’s Day after I received a call about 30 minutes after the order was placed informing it was going to be two hours. We decided to get food from here a few days later. I called to place my order and I asked twice to be sure and I was told it would be ready in 30mins. We arrived at the restaurant and waited over an hour and a half. Our number came up finally and my husband shared his frustration because we asked for clarification on the time frame and we were not told the truth. One of the ladies who was cashing out our order was very rude about it and had the worst customer service attitude. She didn’t care at all about the situation. We are very disappointed because we have been trying very hard to support local businesses during this tough time and then we’re...
