Just mediocre all around. I don't know how this place receives great reviews they do. It was great several years ago when I attended, but has declined dramatically.
I ordered two pizzas. One Sicilian and one Regular both with two types of pepperoni. The server came up to me and said she rang it in differently to save money. She rang it in as some specialty pizza that had parmesan and all of this other crap on it I did not want. If I wanted that stuff, I would've ordered it. She goes back and comes out all apologetic and fixed it. I'm just glad that I read the menu thoroughly before ordering! Crisis averted.
The person I was with wanted beer, and they had no domestic drafts??? He got bottles of Miller Lite instead. It just seemed odd. If they did, the server didn't know.
I did order Pepperolis a little bit later. They're an appetizer that I had remembered getting before and forgot about. Asked to add to order. The food comes out and there were SOOO little pepperonis in the pepperolis. Like it tasted like I was just eating bread.
The Sicilian was WAY too thick. No, it's not a problem with Sicilian Pizzas. There are many places I have gotten Sicilian Style Pizzas at which did not have this problem. It also lacked the natural crunch that Sicilian style places had. Like I was just biting into a giant dough with tons of air. There was so little cheese on it that it was almost criminal. All of the pepperonis were piled into the middle and I picked them off to enjoy the edge pieces.
The regular pizza was pretty good. Not like how I remembered it years ago, but still good. Probably would get it like twice per year if I lived in Bellefontaine for takeout.
They did have a great menu. Interesting selection. Lots of crust options. Many different pizzas I'd never order for myself but I thought it was cool regardless.
I felt bad for the server and I always tip. She was very nice. I admired her intentions on trying to provide customer service. The total was like $77 or something. I wrote "$100" on the bottom line and they took out $101. It's not that big of deal. $1 is $1. But with everything else? Yeah I won't be...
Read moreSix Hundred Downtown is a popular pizza restaurant in Bellefontaine, Ohio. The restaurant is known for its award-winning pizzas, which are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I recently visited Six Hundred Downtown with my wife since we were in the area camping and the weather was bad which meant no cooking outside.
I ordered the Grindhouse pizza, which is topped with pepperoni, sausage, smoked bacon, an ham. The pizza was cooked perfectly and the toppings were all evenly distributed. I ordered the small and it was totally filling. The crust was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My wife ordered the Chicken BBQ pizza, which had a BBQ sauce base and topped with smoked bacon, oregano, Parmesan and Romano cheeses. The pizza was also cooked perfectly and the flavors were well-balanced.
In addition to pizza, Six Hundred Downtown also serves a variety of other items, including salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes. We also tried the mozzarella breadsticks, which came out piping hot. They were cooked perfectly with melted cheese on top. We also chose the garlic butter dipping sauce which was delicious. I used it to dip my pizza crust in as well. The service at Six Hundred Downtown was decent. Our server was friendly and made sure our drinks were full.
If I had one complaint, it took forever to get our breadsticks which we ordered with our drinks. They showed up about 5 minutes before our pizzas which was disappointing since we ordered drinks and the breadsticks separate from the pizzas to ensure that didn't happen. We overheard the waitress tell another couple that the kitchen was backed up, so we shall see what happens next time.
We would definitely recommend Six Hundred Downtown to anyone looking for a great pizza while in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Next time we are in town or driving through, we...
Read moreI am revising my review from about a year ago (Which was simply stated as "Fantastic!" with 5 stars.)
The new review is simply PATHETIC! with 1 star! We were here yesterday (Sunday, November 7th 2021), we arrived right around noon. Place was not very busy and we asked the hostess if it was OK to sit at the bar. She said "sure, have a seat and server will be right with you". Well, 7-8 minutes pass with no service so I asked her if it would be better if we sat at a table. She said no, your server will be right there. Another 4-5 minutes pass and I ask her again if it would be best to sit at a table or if someone could just grab us a drink and we will wait it out. Same answer... server will be right over. Another 3-4 minutes pass and my wife and I decide it would be best to just get up and leave. Plenty of servers standing around, but none willing to help us?? As we are leaving, I informed the hostess that after almost 20 minutes, nobody ever waited on us and we were leaving. (Seemed to not really care that we were leaving.) I am a patient person and even more patient in the current climate, but this was absolutely ridiculous! BUT... this ended up a blessing in disguise. We walked a block down the street to a place called Brewfontaine - it was outstanding! I would HIGHLY recommend Brewfontaine and I am going to find it very difficult to give 600 Downtown...
