Maxwell Street Express — Restaurant in Lake Township

I grew up eating polishes from Maxwell Street (down the street from my grandma's place at 1239, you know the building) These are not them. I was also willing to try the "steak" taco and the chicken taco. Both were awful. The Steak seemed to be the chopped up gristle next to the bone, if not actual ground up bone. The chicken was so shredded that it no longer resembled chicken. While in my younger years, I had an iron stomach, today not so much. I didn't finish the Maxwell Street Polish...partly because I am secure enough in my financial situation, that I no longer need every calorie. The staff wasn't extremely pleasant, however, it didn't bother me. What did bother me was also 60 cent charge for already pricey taco's. When I asked what type of cheese, the answer? Taco cheese. What kind of cheese in the "taco cheese", taco cheese of course. Lol, I passed on the very likely, not Monterey Jack nor Queso Fresco...I'm well aware that some hole in the wall restaurants are amazing. This is not one. The best thing I discovered from this restaurant is that the person who made the recommendation can not be trusted. 1 star might be harsh for middling tasting food, but for the trifecta of reactive borderline rude staff, poorest quality ingredients and extortion prices, I am willing to make an exception of 1 start review. I sit here with, as Winnie the pooh might state, a little rumbley in my tummy....I shall soon curl into a ball and lament the sunk cost of risking a new food joint in a place suffering economic extortion and I anticipate a rough couple of days. ...beware Maxwell Street express....Here...

I had the worst experience at this Maxwell Express location. The workers were very RUDE and could not own up to their lack of paying close attention to taking orders. The one that was taking the orders on the drive thru paid more attention to her phone than making sure that she listen to all of the orders that were given. The order was given twice for a party of five and when it was asked to repeat the order she could not. We asked who was in charge and they lied and one of the workers came to the window and started talking like she was talking to someone she was going to FIGHT. We work very hard for our money and to have to come and deal with this type of service.... NOT ME!!!!! We ended up going to another Maxwell Express location who offered GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and who was happy to...

I went here and order a bacon cheeseburger meal. I had to call the police on one the employees in this restaurant. The reason why is because I asked for my money back because I noticed nobody was changing there gloves and some of them wasn't even wearing gloves and the employee literally threatened me. I asked to speak to the manager and she suggested I call the police because they will take a long time coming she said to me. The manager also called the police and after 20 minutes she suggested I go to the police station up the street on Halsted and put in a the report. This location also needs to be cleaned and they need to retrain there staff or get new staff. I also have a recording of everything and I told everyone I was recording for my protection...
