Wow - this place was such a pleasant surprise!
It was my birthday, and we were in a dire situation because two young ones were out and about celebrating with us. Spacca Napoli already had a 1.5 hour wait time at 5pm, which I can't be too surprised about, because that place is awesome. However, we needed something to eat fast. Lucky for us, we found Anna's Thai Kitchen nearby, and as it turns out it wasn't just good for getting us out of a bind - it was just straight up FANTASTIC.
I am a big fan of Thai food, and this is some of the best my group and I have ever had. First, the panang curry was excellent, and didn't hold back on the flavor or the heat. Next, my mom could not stop raving about her drunken noodles (pad kee mao). I'd have to say they were the best I've ever had as well. The Thai Crying Tiger Steak dinner was another level of fantastic, and especially when ordered medium rare - I would definitely order this dish on a return visit. Last, and perhaps least, the Neau Num Tok (beef salad) was a bit similar to the Tiger Steak, but not quite as good (less tender cut of meat). It definitely wasn't my favorite version of a beef salad, so I would say to skip it and order the former dish instead for your Thai beef fix.
For drinks I tried the Summer Butterfly Pea Drink with boba AND, because it was my birthday, the virgin sangria. Both were excellent! I would describe the butterfly pea drink as a rather glamorous limeade (since I feel like a lot of the flavor comes from the lime juice you pour in). The virgin sangria tastes like the non-alcoholic grape juice you can get around New Year's, but better, and it comes with plenty of floating fruit for you to pick at once the drink is gone.
Service was kind, warm, and excellent. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting. You do have to view the menu via QR code, which is not a trend I overly favor. Do be prepared for that. Prices are also a little rough, but probably not too bad for the area. Besides, the quality is good and all of the food is made to order.
Overall, I would highly recommend a visit here for any fans (or prospective fans) of Thai cuisine. I wish we lived closer so we could visit more often and try more things! Either way, we will make a point...
Read moreOn my second visit to Anna’s Thai Kitchen, I ordered the chuchi salmon, drunken noodles, and the ever-popular crab rangoons. The chuchi salmon was rich and well-executed, with the creamy, coconut-based curry complementing the natural flavor of the salmon beautifully. If you’re a fan of salmon and enjoy a mild, flavorful curry with just the right amount of spice, this dish is a good choice. The curry’s texture was smooth, and it had a subtle, fragrant aroma that added to the overall experience. Not alot of rice with the dish however, which is sad because it's almost 30 dollars.
The drunken noodles, known for their savory and slightly spicy profile, were just as satisfying. The noodles were cooked to perfection, neither too soft nor too firm, with a well-balanced combination of stir-fried vegetables and tender meat. The dish had a pleasant heat, with a subtle sweetness in the sauce, making it a good complement to the richness of the chuchi salmon. I don't like my noodles sweet and spicy but thai food is like that.
As for the crab rangoons, which I had loved on my first visit, they weren’t quite as impressive this time around. The rangoons were more crunchy than crispy, and the filling—once generously stuffed—was noticeably reduced, which diminished some of the joy that this typically indulgent appetizer brings. While still flavorful, the lack of balance between the shell and the filling left me slightly disappointed. Despite that, the crab rangoons remain a highlight on the menu, and when prepared well, they are the best thing Anna’s Thai Kitchen has to offer.
Overall, Anna’s Thai Kitchen is still a great spot to visit, particularly for those seeking halal options. I always make it a point to support businesses that cater to diverse dietary needs, and the restaurant maintains a clean, welcoming environment. The bathrooms were spotless, and the service was prompt and friendly, which added to the positive...
Read morespanking new Thai joint on the block! We had been earlier for drinks to Wolcott Tap (no alcohol served here) and then for dinner with an 8pm table reservation to meet.
The hostess greeted us warmly, checked our Vax and ID cards and seated us promptly. There were around 15 -18 tables in total and including us 5 tables were occupied at that hour, and sanitizing bottles available in every corner.
Our server pleasantly informed us that they had a BYOB policy and there was a liquor shop bang next door we could buy our drinks if necessary.
We ordered the ‘Tiger Cry’ and ‘Green Curry Beef’ which was accompanied by sticky rice and jasmine rice respectively.
The decor was pleasant, a little muted and quiet elegance being perhaps the goal. The scene behind the counter was a little busy with a lot of take out orders being processed.
We were served in around 30 minutes and the dish that stood out for me was the Green Curry, exceptional depth with the appropriate level of heat. The Tiger Cry - Grilled Steak was quite nice as well, although I would have preferred a little more ‘crust’ on the edges, and the accompanying dipping sauce ‘Nam Jim Jae’s’ could have had a little more of the roasted rice powder for the intended ‘crunch effect’
The menu specializes on Central Thailand dishes which are more fragrant and gentle on the palate as compared to NE Thailand where dishes are more fiery (Isaan Larb etc) or the Massamam dishes found in the South but we liked the food and will be back surely for more! Anna came out and greeted us and the other guests towards the end of our meal, asking for feedback too which was a really nice gesture. We ordered Red Bean Ice Cream to go, they packed Green Tea by mistake but offered it complimentary along with the Red Bean which was also nice on their part,
Welcome to the ‘hood Anna and team, we’ll be...
