Begyle has always had a top-notch taproom, but I am especially impressed with how they are handling the "new normal" of pandemic patio service! They have a great outdoor space in a lot behind their brewery with socially distant high-top-like barrels with stools and umbrellas, and picnic tables (some shaded). They are taking reservations for groups up to 6 for 90 minute intervals (i.e. a round of reservations at 4-5:30, then next seating is at 6-7:30, etc.) You order through an app using the qr code on your table, and the Begyle team has a tent where you pick up your drinks when they are ready (they will call your name on a megaphone). In between reservation time-frames, the staff thoroughly cleans and disinfects all of the tables and seats before the next round of reservations are seated. We were there on Friday, and they had The Fat Shallot food truck out back as well. (Not sure what the regularity/schedule of food truck will be.) Overall, we had a wonderful time and felt very safe having a drink at Begyle with our close...
Read moreMy husband and I live in a small town in Kansas. On a recent trip to Chicago to see our son and his spouse they took us to your brewery for beer sampling. I loved the little beer tasting glasses, and I talked your staff into selling me one with a purpose in mind. Merle, the bar tender at our one local bar and grill, Farleys, noticed that I always ordered Pinot Noir but I can never drink a whole glass. He found a small wine glass and started giving me half-priced wine in it. But it was thin and soon developed cracks. I told Merle that I had a new glass but that it had writing on it. He said "We don't care!" So I took it to Farleys, and every time we go there, I get half priced Pinot in a Begyle Brewing glass, which they hung up with the rest of the glasses and save just for me! Now the whole staff at Farleys knows about my Begyle glass, and whoever is at the bar knows to give it to me. Such is life in Lindsborg, Kansas population about 3 thousand. I thought you would like this...
Read moreI tried going to Begyle for the first time for a couple beers with my wife and our young child. The manager stopped us at the door to tell us that they're only allowing vaccinated people. I said that's not a problem and started to pull out my phone with a photo of my vaccination card. He then tells me that this policy applies to everyone, children included. Keep in mind, this is to sit outside on the patio. I tried to remind him that kids under 5 aren't currently eligible for vaccines, and we're going to be sitting outside. They wouldn't budge an inch on anything.
I understand if you want to enforce vaccinations indoors, but this policy effectively bans all parents and makes no sense for an outdoor patio. There's practically a brewery on every other block of the city at this point, and I see no reason to even consider purchasing their beer in future if I'm not welcome at...
