I want to preface my review by saying that I reached out to the owner only to be ignored and my original intention was not to leave a review. However, due to no response- I decided to leave a review.
I have gone to J Wade Studio twice before in the past and really enjoyed it. However, this last time, I had just a pretty bad experience and I was actually very disappointed in the lack of response I received.
I would caution anyone who feels proper communication is important not to go here. I attempted to be a model for one of their apprentice and it was canceled multiple times.(Understandably not the apprentice's fault). When I asked to eventually just be scheduled for another date ( willing to pay for the service at this point and scheduling a service to tone my hair), I was made out to be an ungraceful and not understanding person. I was highly offended, because to top it off it happened via text. I felt extremely uncomfortable I had to block her.
I think there was a huge miscommunication issue and rather than trying to fix it, it was more of an attack of how this isn't going to work. Clients and models have time that is just as valuable as the workers and everyone should be equally respected. In this situation, that didn't happen and it gave off more mean girl vibes.
I hope in the future as the apprentice grows she learns how to communicate properly and not rely on text message so much and learn to build rapport...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had been going to the same stylist for years before I met Jen through a friend who has her hair done at JWade. After some back and forth, Jen convinced me to give her a try for a cut so I made an appointment.
Let me say, yikes.
After Jen cut my hair, I started to question how I had been walking around for years with my old hair.........Jen killed it.
The hair looks better. Styles better. Fits my head better. Suits ME better.
I have thick, textured hair so it really isnāt easy for everyone to cut but I literally will never go anywhere else. Even when Jen is old and retired Iām going to make her cut my hair. Thankfully that wonāt be anytime soon though.
I mean, she made my hair look so good I constantly embarrass myself by checking it out in any/every public reflection ALL DAY. But Iām not ashamed, she made the hair look too good to be ashamed.
Aside from stellar service, the inside of the studio boasts an eclectic loft vibe outfitted with complimentary Nespresso (fav) and unique furniture for those of you with services requiring a longer commitment than a menās cut.
Walk in cute. Walk...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow, where do I start!? Let's rewind to FIVE years ago, when I was strolling through Instagram looking for some hair help and guidance. After some time snooping around Chicago salon pages, I stumbled across Jen's. She had this beautiful blonde fun fro at the time and I loved it! My hair used to be just as curly and full as hers but after years of straightening it, relaxing, and just overall burning it off it was barely hanging on. So, I DM'd Jen and the rest is history. From the moment I met her at my consultation, I knew I was in great hands...and that might be the understatement of the decade! No other salon has touched my hair since I sat in her chair and no one ever will. She literally SAVED my curls and taught me to love and appreciate them. I've sent countless amount of family and friends to her and Jealissa and will continue to do so.
Outside of their obvious skills in their craft, they are the most beautiful souls inside and out. They've curated such a special safe space for anyone who enters their humble abode on Berteau. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this experience that...
