Fantastic brunch experience, lovely atmosphere, very cozy and with a '1920s retro pub' feel throughout. It bothers the hell out of me that UK bangers are not a standard sausage that you can find easily throughout the country, much less the city, because American breakfast sausage really doesn't compare. Crispy and juicy, paired with a hard cider, plump tomato, crunchy rashers, saucy beans and two kinds of pudding...a full Irish is one of the best meals a man can have. No mushrooms, oddly, but a bowl of mushroom soup fulfills that requirement, and the taste/texture was quite mellow and enjoyable. Service with a smile, too... I didn't expect a fussy, happy, glamorous Irish lass to handle my order, but I was glad I got one. She was a peach, sweet and efficient and made the whole experience more fun. I must say, the pricing was a little steep, but I only spent about 70 minutes in the establishment. Were I to come with a handful of friends, at night, with some good music or a baseball game on, it would probably have been a 5 hour 'experience', making the price of admission more about quality time versus making good time. Either way, I had a ball. Hope to go back soon, see how much more trouble I can get jnto with that...
Read moreO'Shaughnessy's has the largest variety of Irish food bar none. I lived in Ireland for 1 year and wanted to enjoy a full Irish breakfast on Father's Day that was authentic. I ordered the "Full Irish" which included 2 Bangers, 2 rashers, 2 black and 2 white puddings, grilled tomato, potatoes, baked beans, and two eggs which I had prepared over easy. I had "brown bread" as well with my breakfast, all of which was simply delicious. My wife had the shepherd's pie along with a Smithwick's beer another added bonus as some American / Irish pubs only carry Guinness. The menu overall is extensive. The wait staff are kind, friendly and professional. After driving 82 miles home, my wife realized she was missing an earring. We contacted O'Shaughnessy's and they had found the missing earring and left it at the bar for us to return and pick-up. I can't help but think that many other eating establishments may have just tossed the missing earring and focused on hungry, paying customers. Thank you Chuy for finding the earring and storing it for us until we could return for it. Overall, this is an excellent Irish restaurant with...
Read moreI've been to this bar 10+ times in the last two months after conveniently moving down the block. They have a decent draft and bottle listing, which is nice because you won't get stuck ordering the same few beers all the time. A huge allure of this place is their outdoor seating, where they have two small areas outside (one on Ravenswood and one on Wilson) that are normally pretty full on any nice evening. I've only had a few of their appetizers, but their steak nachos are awesome as they grill up fresh tasting steak and give you a fair amount of it. We tried the chicken quesadilla and the sweet potato fries last night, and those both were delicious as well. They have half off appetizers during the evening on weeknights, so I'd recommend trying out a few bites to eat then. The atmosphere is great, not too loud if they're showing a game, so you're still able to carry on a conversation and not have your ears buzzing by the time you walk out. The bar is always pretty full, but never obnoxiously so that you can't get a table. If you're in the area, it's definitely a bar that stands out above the rest, so...
