4.5 stars: A lot of people have recommended this spot to me, and I was glad to have tried it! The space is huge and very spacious— good for groups both large and small. There weren’t that many people there for Friday lunch and my friends and I were seated immediately. The service was attentive, quick, and food came out quickly.
I ordered the Mi Quang, a staple dish of Central Vietnam. It was delicious, though the noodles were a bit flavorless and overcooked compared to the rest of the dish components and I wish there was even just a little more broth in it. Otherwise, the ingredients (shrimp, chicken, pork, greens) were fresh, eclectic, and all came together cohesively. The broth was excellent: rich, hearty, and savory— wonderful umami flavors.
We also shared a Vietnamese Spinach vegetable dish, which came with a bowl of rice, and was sautéed well. The garlic flavor was strong, aromatic, and made the dish taste very fresh.
I also tried some of the Tofu Banh Mi, which was okay (but very fairly priced— $7.50, which is among the very cheapest I’ve seen in Argyle so far). The bread was flaky and well toasted, and the sandwich as a whole tasted fresh and good— just a little dry.
Prices have increased (as they have everywhere) and the changes are listed on the front of the menu, but overall it’s still very affordable and a great value! The menu is very long and expansive, so I’d definitely be interested in coming back to try their...
Read moreI be seeing reviews saying it’s good and stuff but me personally and my family thinks it’s definitely not recommended because the food aren’t good and taste watered down like me personally my family make better pho and other Vietnamese dishes then this , and I ordered banh xèo and they literally had 1 thin piece of pork , 3 shrimps , half of the dish is bean sprouts and the outside crust didn’t even taste like actual banh beo. And the owner were giving us attitude, we asked if they had the right veggies for this one dish and the owner told us that there none and deal with it in a rude way and face expression he also sounded really rude when he was taking our orders like if you ain’t got the right veggies for it then say it nicely like my family payed money to eat here so idk why they treating us like that ,they should be grateful they finally got customers. And my family also told me that the employees were staring rudely. there were flies all over the place flying around me and my food when I’m trying to eat and the bathroom smelled rotten and was dirt. So after all that I know why there was only us eating there at the time. Me and my family ate here twice and wasn’t satisfied in any of the two times so I wouldn’t recommend eating here if you drives hours coming to Chicago to eat something yummy and wanting to receive good service is definitely...
Read moreThe food was well done. I visited this restaurant with my mother and had also visited this same restaurant prior with my fiancé. The portion is very generous and the phõ broth is on point. The beef and noodles have good texture. It was delicious and no complaints there. The spring roll was well done although the rice paper got stuck to each other when it was brought to our table. The mixed vegetables with squid was decent even though the sauce has a lot of starch added in them.
The service was subpar. The waiters did greet us and served our dishes and water. They didn’t introduce themselves since they worked as a team. We weren’t sure which gentleman we were working with. They did refill our water once and started to clean and clear the table before we left. I was in the bathroom when one of the gentleman splashed water all over the table in front of my mother who was still waiting for me to get out of the washroom. We thought that was rude since we haven’t completely left.
But the food was great. And no service issue while dining. So the...
