Top Tao Tea is undoubtedly one of the cutest and most aesthetically pleasing boba cafes in Chicago! From the moment you step inside, the charming decor and cozy atmosphere make it an inviting spot to enjoy your drinks. During my visit, I had the pleasure of trying several delightful flavors: the Dragonfruit Kumquat was a refreshing delight with a vibrant hue and a perfect balance of sweet and tangy. The Oreo Brown Sugar was a rich and indulgent treat that combined the creamy flavors of Oreo with a deep brown sugar sweetness—absolutely divine! The Thai Milk was smooth and comforting, capturing the essence of a traditional Thai drink, while the Passion Fruit Tea brought a burst of fruity freshness that was simply irresistible. Last but not least, the Matcha Tea provided a lovely earthy flavor that's both calming and revitalizing. Overall, Top Tao Tea offers a fantastic selection of beverages that cater to a variety of tastes, all within a beautifully decorated space. I highly recommend this charming cafe for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious boba experience in Chicago!

(EDITED after COVID-19 hit) I was a regular customer here, but one day I was shocked to see how workers handled the orders. They were not following sanitation guidelines at all. Bunch of kids came to the store and one of them just walked into the kitchen from front, washed her hands for 5 seconds and started helping other staffs prepare drinks. She wasn't even wearing any masks or gloves. She then opened the straw wrapper and grabbed the top of the straw (where my mouth would touch) bare hand. So I asked politely to get extra straws (so I can replace it), but she opened the wrapper and grabbed the straws bare hands again before handing me more. Why!? It looked like there was no adults there to watch the store. ----Boba tea review below---- Their fresh fruit teas are great. The bobas are cooked /steeped right and have nice texture as well. They're flavored with syrup and not just boiled like some other bubble tea places in Chicago. I was there the day/week they opened it, and they were very helpful when my friends didn't know what to get.

cutest little store with nice ambience and different music rotation everytime i’ve come in, so that’s fun and new! 🧋 i’m sure i’ve had at least 100 drinks from top tao!! so good and so fresh; everything they make is wonderful! so many options for everyone; fruit lovers, creamy and sweet, or traditional boba style, there’s something for everyone here! my favorite for a while was the thai tea with double sago (even in the winter!!), but on a particularly sweltering day, i will go out of my comfort zone and get either the avo coconut smoothie with flan and sago, or the mango smoothie with cream and sago: one of the nicest creations in my opinion! anything taro is also delish (add flan for a new flair!), but for me, sometimes trying something totally new makes a bad day better <3 top tao 4ever!

If I could put 0 stars I would. I’ve come here plenty of times and even worked next door of this establishment to always get a smoothie on my lunch break. But yesterday I had the worse experience ever. First off I DID NOT enjoy my drinks at all. I handed off my drinks to the person I was with and once we got to our destination she grabbed the drinks from the handles of the bag. Mind you! If you put something in a bag, you typically grab it from the handles of the bag!! So at that moment, the bags knot got undone and all four drinks dropped to the ground and ALL BROKE! I was obviously sad when it happened and called the place afterwards. Person on the phone said yes we can replace the drinks for new ones and asked for my order. I live kinda far from Tao Tea, but since I didn’t get to enjoy my drink I went back. Then another coworker called me back and said they couldn’t replace them. I was so furious! I stayed on the phone going back and forth for almost 30minutes!! They said it was a new person working there and that he wasn’t done being trained. Telling me it was my fault that I broke my drinks! And the girl insisted to tell me that, we tell all our customers to be careful when we hand off their drinks. WRONG! You guys tied the knot not me! I do not understand what type of person this owner is but the fact that he/she couldn’t try to replace any of my drinks or do something!! They just simply said no! And the fact that the worker there tells me, “this is the first time, this has happened” like okay exactly!! Where’s the customer satisfaction at?? I was utterly disappointed in the owner! And in the worker! But when I suggested I will just cancel my purchase thru my bank! All the worker wanted to keep saying is, well I suggest you do! Like I can’t understand why own an establishment if you can’t hire people with good...
