El Charro de Mex-Villa Restaurant — Restaurant in Lake Villa

Today me and 3 of my friends went there for a little brunch. The server greeted us immediately and got our drinks going. I was one of those annoying customers who had to order a frozen margarita at 10 am…🤷‍♀️..it was incredible. My tacos were yummy, authentic and made even better with the creamy orange sauce. The subtle building heat on that sauce.. AMAZING. My boyfriend got a Al pastor torta. Which typically I’m not a torta girl, I find the bread to be off putting typically because I prefer a tortilla with my Mexican food. But this torta blew me out of the water. The bread was the right consistency and I believe they used some sort of mayo that gave it the right kind of tang. SO YUMMY. I’m a torta girl now. The thanked us at the end for our business and gave us a beautiful large horchata that was the perfect thirst quencher. Last thing I’ll say is the atmosphere was great in general, from the music to the style they have going in...

The carne asada with shrimp was out of this world good. My wife got a steak burrito and loved it, my mother got Carne Asada as well and ended up getting a side of shrimp because how good mine was. The steak melted in my mouth and was so tender! The shrimp was perfectly cooked and a beautiful texture! Unbelievable how flavorful and perfectly each one was. Usually you get at least one that is over cooked but no, every single one was better than Lobster, I couldn't believe it, my mother ordered two orders of just that shrimp to go. My daughter got a simple Mexican breakfast dish, and she loved it. Now, I will say that the outside of this place had me second guessing wanting to eat here. I will also say that walking in, it's just not a great restaurant atmosphere feel to be completely honest, but man was that food out of this world good! If they had a different location, they would dominate this market...

We had the enchiladas and fajitas de camerones with nachos for our appetizer. Everything was amazing!! The food was cooked perfectly and the portions were generous. On top of that, we came here for my birthday dinner and they were so sweet and brought me out a tiramisu with a candle 🥰 No joke, that was probably the best tiramisu I've ever had!
