El Paso Restaurant — Restaurant in Lake Villa

So if you’re looking for Mexican in the Lake Villa area. Look no further! My family and I ordered takeout from here the first time this evening. I’ve been to another “Mexican restaurant“ just to the west of them and let me tell you this place hands-down blows the other place away. Service was outstanding the woman on the phone was clear to understand and clearly repeated my order back to me. I sent my kids to pick up the food and they had nothing but great things to say about the staff and how polite and nice they were. The food is outstanding the portions are outstanding and the prices are very reasonable. I would share a picture but the food looked way too delicious 😋 I couldn't resist to eat it. This restaurant brought me back home, I remember my dad taking me to a fonda. (Fondas are this little kitchens where mothers and grandmothers share Mexico's most traditional flavors for generations) This is that place. Being from Mexico, I've been searching for authentic Guerrero Mexican food in Lake County; this place is as authentic as you will find so far. Guerrero is north of Oaxaca, and if you know Rick Bayless, most of his recipes come from Oaxaca. Oaxaca and Guerrero's cooking are very similar. Don't come looking for the fancy ambiance; instead come for the flavorful food. Being there the first time this past week, I’ll hold any major comments until I try it a few times. Two comments for now are, one, the place looks better on the inside than it does outside. Number two, we ordered steak tacos (asada) and got ground beef instead. We did not return them and they were descent. What was very good and a sign of a good Mexican restaurant is the guacamole. We’ll be back to try some other dish. Well we came back, and the margaritas are pretty good. I had the Tampiquena, which is skirt steak topped with cheese enchilada, with rice and beans.
