we were on a road trip from Philadelphia to visit friends in Lake Villa 2 yrs ago, my gf said there's a neat lil restaurant she wants to check out, we went and had the best meal of the trip, so of course, the next year, we had to go again, and the owner recognized and remembered us, and exactly which booth we ate at a year ago, which really made us feel at home, that was impressive, we told her we really love the homemade menu, pies, and you can tell everything is made with love, especially after being on the road for 2days, it's like heaven to have a home cooked meal, we eat here now when we are in town, LVR became the destination, the place is unassuming from the outside, but once inside, it's like I'm home, with family, this place is more than just a restaurant, it's a family experience, and when we're 800 miles from home, it's an oasis, we love our LVR family, and are looking forward to next year, and many more to come, thank you Felicia and family, you guys are knocking it out of...

We stopped here while we were out fishing this weekend and were pleasantly surprised! Don't let the bland store front sign steer you away. Everything here was homemade, fresh and super delicious! First of all, we came in 30 minutes before closing...I know, we are jerks. But Felicia welcomed us and was happy to serve us. I had a sloppy Joe! haha! I haven't had one in forever, let alone at a restaurant and it was delicious! I also had a baked french onion soup which was one of the best I've ever had. My boyfriend and his dad had the hot beef and the Greek omelet. The hashbrowns were fresh boiled and shredded potatoes (hard to come by anymore) and the hot beef must have been good because it was a big portion and dad never eats anything and he was scraping his plate clean!
