Used to love this place! Food is still good for the price but not worth the headache anymore. We have been here a few times and have been to his other restaurant (Japan 49) more times than I can count. Each experience here at Cherry has gotten worse. The first time the service was slow and a drink order was forgotten, and we received one thing we did not order but our server was professional and polite. This last time my husband and I waited to be seen by a server, 15-20 minutes, to hear about how unorganized it is tonight and how she “hates” the hostess who sat us. We were not fans of the hostess either.. Waited for our check to be figured out another 15-20 minutes and the check was still wrong. The flyer in the mail that said “Spend $50 receive a $25 gift card” and this was why we came in again and for some reason they were unable to credit money onto gift card. Instead I was given a paper card that wrote “$25 off dine in only” but it expired in two weeks... I explained that my husband and I will be out of town. When I asked if there was any way I could get a later expiration date or the gift card that was promised (which does not expire). I also pointed to the flyer that specifically said gift card. She went to speak to the owner in the kitchen and meanwhile I had the hostess who sat us, yelling in my ear, bragging to a server across the room about how she has a 23 year old firefighter from her tinder account. The lady came back to tell me the owner says the expiration date (2 weeks) can not change, sorry.
I think this will be our final experience at his restaurants. It has been a good run and we have enjoyed taking guests and celebrating special occasions with you guys up until our experience has been too much of a hassle than what it’s worth.
P.S. My tea cup was dirty but I rubbed off the left over lipstick with my napkin and hand sanitizer because I didn’t want to...
Read moreWith a group and tried to talk to server who seated us that I needed gluten free options. She completely didn’t understand a word I said. So I tried to explain no wheat and that some sauces such as soy have wheat. I found a bottle of soy near table and sure enough it has wheat in it. So I tried to ask her if I could get the chicken and rice plain with no sauces. She said tell your chef cooking at table no sauces. I said ok So the chef (not sure I would call him chef because he knew nothing about what was in the food). So before he started cooking I tried to explain no sauces, plain rice, plain chicken, no gluten no wheat. He was clueless. He cooked the rice and put sauce all over it and started dishing it out. I told him no wheat no sauce, plain rice He said sauce has no wheat. Ok I thought maybe I could eat the rice. Then onto noodles, I said no noodles. He still put them on my plate. So I said no wheat no flour. He said they are just egg noodles no wheat. Don’t noodles take more than eggs to make? Then the chicken , I said plain no sauce. He put sauce on one piece insists I try it because it is good and puts it on my plate and then continues to sauce all the rest of the chicken with teriyaki sauce even though some hadn’t ordered teriyaki chicken. Of course then I get a plateful of teriyaki chicken So I guess he decided just what we all should eat even if we can’t digest and have food allergies. Needless to say I ate rice because he first said it had no wheat, but as the cooking went on I knew he was clueless and couldn’t understand a word I said So he basically ruin my dinner. Please have someone listen to your customer. There are some people with food allergies and some foods make them sick. Or worse yet for some life or death. I...
Read moreWe hadn’t gone to Cherry in several years but were looking for Hibachi in the area. We called early in the day and made reservations for 8:30pm. We arrived a few minutes early. Table wasn’t ready. No problem. We were seated by 8:40. No waitress for quite a bit. Manager finally came to get drinks and take our order and we were all ready since we had already waited so long. Waitress delivered drinks with no straws. We finally got straws. I had to ask for ice for my water. The waitress gave me an attitude about it. By 9:30 we still had no food being cooked. Finally the cook came over with the cart with our food on it. But no one had turned the grill on for him. So he turned it on and left all the raw food sitting unattended while he left while the grill heated up. It took about ten minutes to warm up. So raw chicken and fish just hanging out on the cart. The chef did a fine job. What you would normally expect from a hibachi chef. The waitress was MIA all night. No refills. Had to ask for boxes and checks. Checks were incorrect. In total, we were in the restaurant from 8:20 until 10:30 because of very, very slow and poor service. The food was ok. Nothing over the top. We asked to talk to the manager and the server gave us nothing but excuses such as she had to use the bathroom and that’s why we waited 20 minutes for drinks. It was a serious mess. I would not recommend until they get their staff...
