Finally got to check out the newest B&B! Black & Brew is an iconic set of local coffee shops in Lakeland- the original is located in downtown, and then there is a second one at the Polk County Library right along Lake Morton. Both are super adorable and the vibes are immaculate.
Black & Brew is one of my favorite spots to hit whether to sit and do homework, catch up with friends or family, or even just a quick coffee to go. So it was very exciting to hear that a new location would open up in South Lakeland much closer to where I live.
This location is actually in the building where the south Krispy Kreme used to be before it closed down (rip). I feel that the decorations definitely match the vibes of what a Black & Brew is about, though it still seems a bit lackluster like itâs missing something. You can definitely tell itâs newer and they were quick to try and be open. The outside seating is a super nice touch.
Compared to the downtown location, this one has a much, much more limited food menu. Like probably half of the normal menu. But this being said, the product is still just as good as you could hope for. A favorite of mine is the Strawberry Pecan salad- itâs incredible! They have some great paninis as well. And you canât really go wrong with any coffee there. The frappes are especially good and make Starbs look like a fool (itâs just the truth). Lastly, this location does also have wifi if you want to do work or homework- the downtown one does not have free wifi unfortunately.
One big downside is the parking- the lot is really awkward and so they have overflow parking about a block away. So if you can park close itâs great but that could...
Read moreI intended on trying several coffee shops in the area since I work near by as a fun adventure for myself, however, my very first time here caught my heart. This just might be my go-to!
The entire staff was fantastic! They were so sweet, I mentioned to them that this was my first time trying it out and they were adamant about making my experience so great Iâd return. And they did exactly that. Especially, Kat who went above and beyond with her service to me, she deserves the world! Comfy and cute atmosphere. The music was great. The quote on the wall was inspiring. The dĂ©cor was aesthetic and cozy. The coffee was great. They have tons of unique options I intend to try- both food and beverages. Their prices are very fair as well which is a huge factor in my return. They have a nice and covered outside area; it was hot today so I did not sit out, but will when I return. Hands down the cleanest and nicest smelling coffee shop I have ever been to.

Read moreBlack & Brew in Lakeland is certainly a popular spot, and while the atmosphere was pleasant enough during my recent visit, the coffee and biscuit I tried unfortunately didn't quite hit the mark for my personal taste. The coffee, while clearly made with care, had a particular roast profile that wasn't my preference. It lacked the robust flavor I typically look for in my morning cup. Similarly, the biscuit, though it looked appealing, was a bit drier than I prefer and didn't have the buttery, flaky texture I often crave. That being said, I could definitely see the appeal for others. The cafe had a nice buzz, and the staff were friendly. It seems like a great place to meet up with friends or get some work done. While my specific choices weren't my favorites, Black & Brew clearly has a loyal following in Lakeland, and I wouldn't discourage others from trying it out to see if it aligns with their own preferences. Sometimes, it just comes down to...
