So with all the raves about this place, I had to try it. Went there on a Sunday about 1pm. Interesting concept. Walk up like a fast food restaurant, order & they give you a number. You get your drink, sit down and they bring it to you. With the side counter I thought they'd call your number & you pick it up. Only issue, they don't have number placards on the table to know who's number 19. Saw one table try to get another table's food. Slight improvement needed there. Anyways, I ordered the classic philly with onions, hubs got a mushroom philly and a large onion rings. First bite impression, O-M-G the bread is SOOOOO soft with a thin crusting on the outside. Onion rings phenomenal with the light tempura batter. Steak is melted into the cheese onto the bread. Great idea to prevent it from all falling out. Only wish, it was more like a real philly cheese where its stuffed with meat. As good as it was, I would gladly pay more for a more stuffed sandwich instead of a thin layer of meat. But overall, good place. Go there if you're...
Read moreAfter making a quick visit to the antique store nearby, the advance scouting for lunch pulled up this place.
I am a big fan of a good Philly cheeseteak sammich without buying in to all the hype of who makes the best one Pat's, Geno's, Jim's Southside, Steve's, Tony Luke's, or whatever.
The essentials are a fresh Amorosa roll and thin shaved rib-eye of course. From there it's all personal preference for toppings and options. Note: The age old debate whether the meat should be shaved and remain intact or chopped into ground hamburger bits is purely one of preference.
SO, the one I had today was "my" number two in the preference department being a classic "Wit -n- Whiz" style. Will be back to do one with onions and provolone soon.
So, a 7 inch wit-b-whiz with a small fry and drink is like $13. A very good deal.
Made the way I like them and didn't eave a scrap in the basket.
Again, we'll be back to try more items from the menu.
Clean and friendly service makes this an easy 5...
