Ordered curbside to go. Immediately left my house to get it (15 minute drive). Got 5 sauces from the bar got in my car and left
Get home to find a few surprises. Every last bit of food was literally cold to the touch. I'm talking ice cold The only topping on my "wet" chimi was the smallest amount of sour cream I'd ever seen. You could also see frequent breaks in the line like someone was just too lazy to refill their sour cream and said it was good enough. The queso was placed with an entirely different entree so I wasnt evennsure if it was mine. Did not include the jalapenos asked as well. How much of the food was either stale or overcooked. Steak in tacos... straight up bubblegum. Tortilla in for the chimi was stale and it was difficult to even cut it with the included cutlery (however normally you can just cut the chimi with a fork) Chicken was overcooked dry and stringy.
The good... Well the food was seasoned well and had good flavor. Staff was very friendly. Beyond that there is nothing else good to say about the trip. More than likely removing tflats from my rotation and will absolutely no longer be recommending it to friends.
This is very bittersweet for me as I've always loved tflats but really seems to have skipped downhill. The idgaf attitude with the sour is the big eye opener. Whomever is in the kitchen literally looked down and said screw it they will be ok.
Whoever that guy is I would work on replacing them immediately because they screwed up cooking all the food and decided to leave out all care and love for the food. Even if it's your GM, find a new one it's not doing your brand justice and I sincerely hope it's no one in management or higher up out together this pathetic attempt at a "good" meal.
Also I normally dont complain I'm 15 years in the industry but this was...
Read moreThis particular Tijiuana Flats restaurant (in Lakeland, FL) has some of the best service I've ever had in a taco joint.
TF is a niche between a taco bar/fast food joint and a more traditional mexican restaurant. They are usually fast, with orderimg from the cash register and then sit down and wait. It's usually not a long wait, but when they are running a special, the wait can drag on.
The food is good, maybe even very good, but not great enough to say you have to go back to THAT restaurant. Kind of like Chili's or Chi Chi's, but more restrictive on menu items.
This Lakeland location was very well run, with well trained, courteous staff going beyond in their service. I usually just get water ( they have beer as well as a bevy of soft drinks), and not even bottled water. The staff refilled my glass twice, which I actually didn't expect that level of service in a slightly upscale fast food location.
They have a huge assortment of sauces to flavor your taco/burrito any...
Read moreMy wife and I have been to Tijuana for years and have always completely enjoyed the food and the service. This last Saturday (5/22) we were extremely disappointed when we arrived for lunch. We went inside and was abruptly told, "we don't open for another 2 minutes." The door was open, lights on, personnel working at the register and I checked my phone and the time was 11am. We walked back outside and floored at the attitude. The young lady seemed to be in some sort of leadership role and we had never seen her before. We decided to go somewhere else to eat lunch. I am not sure we will go back if that is going to be the approach to customer service. It saddens us that this seems to be more common then an exception for many restaurants. I would think many would want the customers to come back due to reduced openings for the last year. My advice is to not show up until 15 minutes after opening and hope they are...
