First time in here was on Monday after living in Lakeland for years and was deeply disappointed in the food quality. I eat Sushi all over the country and this was easily amongst the worst I've eaten. Started with the Miso soup, which was good, and a ginger dressing salad. The ginger dressing was the most bland ginger dressing I've ever eaten. Started out with a couple of their Kamikaze Eel sushi pieces and was pretty good, despite some minor temperature issues as plated. Then ordered one of my staples when I eat sushi of a spider roll and it was terrible. Don't know if the crab was bad or what not, but probably the worst tasting roll I've ever eaten. Ordered 3 more rolls including the volcano, which that one had potential. The other 2 rolls were bland and had some unique texture issues, which I'm sure was a result of the temperatures. Temperature of ingredients is key to good sushi. Certain ingredients need to be cold while others should be warm and some rolls should have that nice contrast. Ingredients were warm that shouldn't have been and pretty much ruined the entire experience. Overall, just very bland. Service was good however and enjoyed the waitstaff. They took the spider roll off the tab, but felt the bill was still way over priced for the lack of quality in their product. I would hope they reevaluate their product offerings to customers as quality to all aspects of serving sushi...
Read moreI was excited to try this place, people seemed to like it a lot. I want to first say that we did show up somewhat close to closing due to our work hours, but I still think our experience there isn't justified by that fact.
Wait staff was initially friendly. The tables weren't very clean, and the floor had some sticky substance on it, which got on my shoes. We were given menus, and again initially the waitress came in a somewhat timely manner. We ordered two appetizers. We were never given utensils, plates or napkins. Ordered water, had to ask twice for that. Asked for utensils, nothing. 6 or 7 minutes went by and we grabbed another waitress walking by and she kind of gave us an attitude about it and brought them. Finally about 10 minutes after getting appitizers we got chopsticks and some napkins. I had already eaten my dim sum with my fingers.
Dinner (sushi) and apps were fairly good, not great but good. There were literally 8 or 9 people working there but it felt like nobody paid us any attention at all the entire time we were there. I understand they were closing soon, but really you can't handle a two setter with 9 people working? The girl was nice that waited on us, but there was no effort to serve us, we won't go back again. Mind you we aren't very hard to please, just some utensils and service and not getting an attitude for asking for them would have...
Read moreI usually get delivery from this restaurant, so this was my first time as a dine in restaurant customer. It was a Saturday night and the place was completely empty but a large party had just left. Another party came in after us and there was steady pick up orders. The service was great. Our waitress was nice and helpful. The women’s bathroom may have a plumbing problem because the main door was propped open and it smelled unpleasant BUT the restroom was very clean. The entire restaurant was very clean. The sweet tea was honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. Very fresh and sweet. I also tried some plum wine and it was spectacular. I personally got the volcano roll. Let me say without a shadow of a doubt GOSH has the BEST sushi I’ve ever had. The presentation was beautiful and the roll was huge. Very fresh tasting, it was perfect. After dinner my sister ordered the tempura cheesecake. I tried some and it was very good. Personally I wouldn’t add sprinkles to it (kills the overall presentation) but it didn’t hinder the taste. I would STRONGLY suggest anyone who loves sushi to try GOSH. You won’t be disappointed! **The do offer other things...
