Best part is building your own pizza at a fixed low price. And then comes the variables, which is why I can only give this 3 stars. Variable #1: Is it a busy night? If it is, then your online order won't likely be ready by the time given (hint: be sure to remind them of the drizzle if you ordered it on a busy night!) Variable #2: Who's working? I don't know names, but there's one guy I've seen who seems to "run the show," and he's consistently awesome at what he does. But the girl who was putting pizzas in & taking them out this night: I almost cancelled my order (I didn't, because I was hungry and didn't want to wait at another place) - No gloves: She grabbed each pizza with bare hands, grabbed boxes, drink cups, receipts, and more... When I see the others wearing gloves and she's not, I don't exactly understand what's going on here (esp in the world today).
Consistent for my last 2 visits: Yes, as other reviews have stated, the center is soggy. But, to help explain this: At home, we have "homemade pizza nights" where I make dough and give everyone a dough ball, and everyone makes their own pizza. If you select toppings that release water when cooking, you often get a soggy middle. So, this is understandable (unless you take the time to dry the veggies dry BEFORE cooking). A) it's obvious this place doesn't do this (I don't know if any place does besides me at home). But B) if you don't do this, you need to add some time to the cooking to at least get the dough to cook more thoroughly overall. The edges would become more burnt, so I'm guessing this is less desirable (from the business perspective). However, when they're busy and pizzas are pulled out too soon (to meet the demand), not only do you lose the crispy edges but you also have soggy uncooked dough. So yeah, that's a big bummer (& I can hear TV Chef Ramsey yelling to remake it). Overall: A GREAT concept, a great price, and generally a good effort! Bottom line: Your experience will vary, but yes, you'll likely get a soggy bottom especially if you have requested water-releasing...
Read moreDuring a recent visit to MOD Pizza, I had the pleasure of meeting two of the restaurant's workers: Landon and manager JP. Both individuals were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making my dining experience all the more enjoyable.
Landon, one of the MOD Squad members, was responsible for taking my order and guiding me through the process of creating my perfect pizza. He was incredibly patient and helpful, answering all of my questions and offering suggestions for toppings that I may not have considered otherwise. Landon's positive attitude and attention to detail made me feel like my pizza was in good hands.
Once my order was placed, manager JP took over, ensuring that my pizza was cooked to perfection. JP was clearly passionate about his job, taking the time to explain the cooking process and how it affects the flavor of the pizza. He even shared some tips for achieving the perfect crust at home, which was a nice touch.
When my pizza was ready, I was blown away by how delicious it was. The crust was crispy and flavorful, and the toppings were fresh and plentiful. It was clear that both Landon and JP take great pride in their work and go above and beyond to ensure that every customer leaves happy.
Overall, I would highly recommend MOD Pizza to anyone looking for a fun and delicious dining experience. With a friendly and knowledgeable staff like Landon and JP, you...
Read moreHey, Im not just a superstar and am also a serious foodie and love pizza. So while back in Austin tonight before the winter weather hits I decided to give this place a try. I have never eaten here before in all my years in ATX but I just kept hearing people say try it so anyways, here I am.
First off to order you simply walk over to the start of the pizza assembly line area and tell them what ya want. They will scribble it down on a sheet with your name and your off to the checkout (don't forget your No Name Cake).
Next grab your choice of drink at the fountain and have a seat. The pizza takes only about 10 minutes when the place is not packed so its very fast.
Now just wait until they call your name and head over to the counter to grab your food. Sit, eat, laugh, and love.
Is this the best place to eat pizza in the world? Well, I have traveled the world and eaten at places many will never get the chance to and in Austin this is in my top 3 favorite pizza places hands down.
So what are you waiting for? Grab some pizza and head over to @vicstahmilien on instagram to tell me your personal thoughts about the experience. I would love to hear...
