Reported Harassment by the store Manager named ALEXA After completing our shopping (spent $480 here!), my husband and I sat on a store bench to have a conversation. We were not disturbing anyone, blocking access, or violating any obvious policy. Yet, out of nowhere, the store manager AMANDA approached us and aggressively demanded we leave, accusing us of “loitering.” like she just insulted us for no reason but pure harassment. Despite our explanation that we were simply talking after shopping and brainstorming about our daughter’s big birthday party to see if we need to buy more, she escalated the situation and even went so far as to threaten to call the police on us “I ask you to leave immediately or I call the police!”!?
But it didn’t stop there. When we exited the store and sat in our own vehicle in the parking lot, she continued to harass us, insisting we leave the premises entirely. This level of hostility was completely unnecessary, unjustified, and outright unprofessional. It felt less like enforcing a policy and more like an abuse of power. She could just have told us this is a Lakeway thing/ or educate us why instead of “Im calling the police and they will explain not me!” In a rude way even we tried to ask her calmly 😞
I have never been treated with such disrespect as a paying customer. H-E-B should seriously reconsider how it trains its management because this behavior is unacceptable for any business that claims to care about its customers. I am demanding a full review of this incident as we feel so hurtful being a frequent customer. I would like to know if H-E-B endorses this kind of behavior from its management and whether there is an official policy that justifies treating customers in such a humiliating and aggressive manner.
All we did is We asked her for explanation and even showed her our receipt we shopped but she never tried to explain but calling the police!? We are not loud teenagers or doing anything but have a conversation in the store in Vietnamese and English quietly (all the staffs that day know us and how thoughtful customers we are as we are very frequent here!) so obviously she simply targeted us with extreme minority discrimination as she never explained anything but on her walkie talkie threaning us the whole time - while many can sit and talk in their bench, please stop abuse your power and use “loitering” to your customers as excuse of your personal discrimination and harassment ! That law was born to protect a business from bad behaviors that can hurt your business but not to frequent customers like us just because you dont like us! She - A manager is supposed to communicate effectively not to threaten and discriminate customers, how come a manager treats customers worse than your staff who are very nice to us? I attached our receipt here and the photo she followed us to parking lot even not let us sitting in our car and threating calling the police with all her harassment that the staff was even in our side not hers!
We will call your corporate tomorrow to ask for a formal apology and We are ok to be invited to your corporate headquarter anytime to look at the camera materials at this store that day to see if besides talking quietly we did anything wrong like she harassed and insulted us such horribly. This is just so awful as its never...
Read moreMESSAGE FOR GENERAL MANAGER OF LAKEWAY H-E-B: I come into your store five nights a week to buy and have your excellent H-E-B experience. However, there is one thing I hear in your store every time that really screams “management neglect.” I am one of your business neighbors and as a manager of a large facility, things get my attention. Every night there is an alarm BEEP that sounds its warning at least twice a minute CONSTANTLY. The beep seems to come from an area near to the entrance doors closest to the pharmacy. This regular beeping sounds exactly like our Fire alarm warning and our security alarm warning. For us it means there is a problem that needs attention from the company that services our systems. Yours may differ, but certainly you must agree that the beeping IS TRYING TO TELL MANAGEMENT SOMETHING ISNT 100% as it should be. When I asked a member of your management team about it, she acknowledged the issue had been happening for a very long time, but her insight into its long history was, “After awhile we just don’t notice it anymore.” WRONG ANSWER. Especially from a leadership team of your caliber and reputation. I hope someone will take the initiative to identify the system sending the alarm, contact the service company who can visit the store and FIX THE PROBLEM. From my vantage point it screams neglect and it’s embarrassing. One final note: some of my friends who moved to Austin have also chosen to move out for various reasons. When i speak to them I ask, “So tell me honestly, do you miss Austin or just H-E-B?” It gets a laugh, but they always gush over how great your stores were and how they have nothing like it where they moved. YOU ARE THAT GOOD and it’s NATIONAL next-level GOOD. Congratulations on creating an experience like no other company in America. It’s awesome! Now fix the...
Read moreI just moved to Lakeway from San Diego, and this was my first visit to a HEB Store. My daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandchildren arrived in June so they sent me to HEB. I especially asked her about fresh fruit and vegetables, which I thought would be hard to find after living in Southern California for 6 years. I was so pleased by the selection of everything. I could pay higher prices, but also found many bargains of quality products. I am originally from Chicago, so I also found many of my old home favorites.
The coupons provided additional savings, so I could have stayed in the store for hours and had the benefit of other great savings. This was a good move for me because of family and being closer to my Midwest daughter and most of my family. And people will meet and greet you here unlike many in the area from which I just came, customers as well as employees.
I’d especially like to recognize Rosalynn, sorry spelled wrong, in the Deli who was so pleasant and helpful, and Steven, who was my friendly and good natured and quick cashier. I missed the name of my first bagger, but Marisela, a Manager I assumed, was quick to step in and relieve her, I’m sure for a well-needed Saturday break or lunch. Marisela, too, was so cheerful and welcoming, for sure I’ll be back. The whole atmosphere in the store was pleasant that day. I feel at home already. Great...
