P. Terry's Burger Stand — Restaurant in Lakeway

I rarely if ever make bad reviews, but today really sealed it for me. I tried to be considerate of the mass amount of high schoolers that literally over ran the place. I asked for a number 2 cheeseburger ALL THE WAY, with grilled jalapeños, grilled onions, and ketchup. Then when I asked for crispy fries, to which she ignored, she asked what else I want. I asked for a strawberry lemonade(literally the same order ive made for as long as I can remember). She then said my order was 9.88, when it's normally 8.88(easy number to remember). After asking if the order was right, she gave an attitude over the intercom saying it was right, even with it being a dollar more than I normally pay. I said cool, we are gonna see. I get to the window. Not the same lady on the intercom, and I know this because this lady is always nice when I come to the window(give her a raise$$). I asked what my order was. She read it off and said I ordered a cookie...I did not order a cookie. We kind of laughed it off, and she fixed the price back to 8.88. I leave in a mass amount of traffic(mind you, this is lunch traffic hour around 1). When I pull out my food, not only are my fries the opposite of crispy, but they gave me a cheeseburger with only the jalapeños, onions, and ketchup I asked to be added. I literally said ALL THE WAY to make it easier for the lady on the intercom. I'm really annoyed about this and have pictures and my receipt, but didn't have time to turn around in the middle of traffic to refute it. I don't think I'm coming back until I can get a refund or a credit for my next visit. Im only making this review because the last few times, smaller mistakes were made with my order that I didn't make a big deal about. But this totally spoiled my appetite. I had stopped going over the past few years due to various unpleasantries Inside the dining room and last night was the best experience I’ve ever had at PTerrys. When we arrived at 6:30PM, all of the unoccupied tables were clean as a whistle. The burgers were a thing of beauty. I could tell that great care had been taken to prepare them. The toppings were evenly laid out and they were wrapped just right. The fries were perfect and the food was hot. Lemonade could have used more ice but that is minor. There were no kids loitering and no one sleeping in the booths waiting for their rides. The staff was busy taking care of business and everyone was enjoying their meals. It was the BEST visit I’ve ever had to the Lakeway PTerrys. If you are like I was and had given up on this place, give it another try. Management has regained control of the dining room and it was truly a pleasure to eat...

It's nostalgic fast food fare but with quality ingredients. The menu is simple and basic in a good way, no crazy limited time flavors. No obscenely large burgers. The sandwiches are what I would say is the original size of a fast food burger before everything got super-sized, so you could try a couple of things at a time without being a total glutton. I've tried nearly all of the non-breakfast menu items, and liked them all. There's a great veggie (vegetarian, not vegan) burger. The chicken patties are a little different (it's ground chicken instead of a breast filet), but they're pretty good. The prices are fantastic. Milkshakes (including root beer!) are classic, creamy indulgence. There's also a really nice view. The staff seemed to be having fun when I was there, which contributed to the retro burger drive-in atmosphere....
