We were really excited to have a local Indian store and not have to drive up north. But, this is now the second time we've had a bad experience with one of their products, with the whole family getting sick the morning after eating an Indian meal. We're Punjabi, I grew up eating jaggery (indian brown sugar) which was made on our family farm, so when I bought jaggery from them, my Mother told me right away that 1) it was either not real, or 2) terrible quality with artificial yellow color. When I brought it to the attention of the gentleman at checkout, I was told to "complain to the manufacturer because it's their product". That blew my mind. As an equivalent experience, when I buy a poor quality product from Nordstrom, you better believe they're not going to tell me to complain to the actual manufacturing brand, instead of the retailer (Nordstrom).
Then, yesterday we made a meal with a garam masala bought at Spice Box and it tasted AWFUL. We all got sick this morning.
Disappointing because we've spent hundreds at this store and told all our local non-Indian friends about it. We want to support out local enterpreneurs but not if it comes at the expense of our family's health. And certainly not if we're not respected as customers - for those wondering, we're not an entitled family, and lean in hard on supporting...
Read moreI am profoundly disappointed with my experiences at this store. I want to be clear that this review is based on multiple visits, and the shockingly poor quality of service has been consistently terrible. The customer service is not just bad—it's ridiculous, bordering on hostile, and the overall staff conduct is inexcusably rude.
While I want to be fair and mention the one gentleman with glasses who was okay, the behavior of the other main employee is what ruined the entire visit. This person has absolutely no respect for customers and went so far as to laugh at me in a sarcastic, dismissive way. That kind of appalling behavior is unacceptable and makes you feel unwelcome and genuinely angry.
Beyond the terrible customer interaction, the products themselves are just okay. They severely lack variety across all departments, making it clear this is not a destination for a proper grocery or shopping trip. I would only recommend stopping by here out of sheer desperation if you need something urgently and have no other choice. If you are looking for a genuine selection, do yourself a huge favor and go elsewhere; I know I will stick to Cedar Park for proper variety and a more pleasant experience in the future.
To the Owner- you need to take corrective actions if you don’t want to lose...
Read moreMy wife, Meena and I, were greeted in a very friendly manner by the owners at SpiceBox Grocery with a nice smiling conversation. At check out Mrs. Sravanthi asked us to verify the purchases. I was not sure about a charge with no item explanation on the receipt and Mr Ranganathan promptly refunded the charged amount without further questioning. However, we found out later, after reaching home, it was for another item that we purchased but not shown in the receipt. I offered to return to shop and repay that charge. But, he just said no need to return the amount which I feel very bad. This business gesture of the shop owners is beyond expectation of customers like me. Anyway, I plan to go back to SpiceBox and offer to return the cash this week. I want to let other customers of SpiceBox know the great attitudes of such business owners. Ram...
