Big Sky Burger — Restaurant in Lakewood

You’re definitely given the old burger stand vibe upon arrival with the plywood floors and tables! The owners were extremely friendly and patient with us as we took some time to check the variety of options from burgers, which is what we can for, to wings and some Asian dishes.

We decided to go with the burgers. We were the only ones there to start so the wait wasn’t more than 10-12 minutes and they brought out the fries half-way through which look small but you’ll want to start eating them right away before they get cold and the monstrous items get served next! FYI, we loved the season on the fries!

To get started, that big burger sign out front should honestly say, “almost actual size!” This is legitimately the biggest looking burger I’ve ever eaten with a single patty. Our side of fries which we decided to share honestly wasn’t that big but you’re thankful after the burger arrives that you didn’t order another one. The patty isn’t anything you haven’t seen before size-wise; there are just so many toppings between the excellent bun, that make the burger, half a head of lettuce, and probably a 1/4 bottle of dressing and jalapeños, I can say it is also the messiest, bordering on sloppiest, burger I’ve ever eaten.

I don’t know if they offer any double cheese burgers but good luck, you might want to split that with four people. On to the actual taste, others have said this is the best burger they’ve had in Lakewood but I’ll politely disagree. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but the obnoxious amount of toppings and waste in my basket at the end was a little disheartening.

I’m not a big fan of butter pickles (on burger) or sweet pickle (spear on side) so I feel like I wasted these as well and didn’t really have something to refresh my pallet throughout the burger. I don’t like tomatoes on my burger but I’m sure if I got them they would have been extremely fresh just like all my toppings. The burger also would have been another 1/2” tall!!

Recommendations for other first timers. I think if I went again. I’d get one burger, one side, and maybe one Asian bowl or wings to share with one other person to get a taste of everything. You might also want to request all the toppings on the side or ask for half the typical servings because this should just be called a burger salad after everything falls out when you try to take your first bite.

The drinks are all served from bottles so make sure you bring a water bottle if you don’t want a soda, tea, or water from the sink…even though a filtered water dispenser is sitting right next to it. Lastly, when you see the napkin dispenser next to the cashier, you’re going to want to grab a knife and about 15 napkins per person.

The gentleman behind the counter was very cheerful, patient, and just pleasant to be around. He almost has an aura of a guru and his smile is extremely contagious!! We’ll definitely be back to try the...

Where to begin?! This place is phenomenal! We heard nothing but raving reviews, the reviews here were glowing so we added it to our list.

Today was the day we tried Sky Burger and I can’t believe we waited, because this place is a gem!! A diamond in the rough!!

The owner(s)? Greeted us when we arrived very warmly and were approachable and very friendly and helpful! You can tell they have a passion for their food and business.

I got the number 10: the jalapeno burger and my gf got the number 2: the sky burger, their signature burger.

The burgers were huge and worth every penny. The quality of the ingredients, prep to make the food, the presentation, etc all was top notch. Fresh veggies, burning hot, melted cheese and plenty of it. If you are a fan of thick burgers and like quality, then this may be one of the best burgers you will eat. It gave me a nostalgia of homemade burgers from when I was a kid but my moms were no where near as good as these!!

We got onion rings and wedges which were both excellent and a great quanity and price for each. Well seasoned, hot, and soooo good! I’m pretty sure the wedges were made in house? Omg I wish I could cook such amazingness.

We also got some gyoza which were fantastic!!! They have really good ranch, and other sauces as well. Definitely something special.

We are highly intrigued about the prospect of trying ramen, rice bowls, and wings there in the near future. If it’s half as good as what we got today then I will be a happy camper.

I enjoy the hole in the wall, gem type places and the building is definitely nothing fancy, but the owners passion, hospitality and presence makes the location comfortable and enjoyable to dine in. Limited seating inside, with some outside seating as well. It might be a bit cold inside, like it was today, but it’s an older building with lots of windows. Didn’t bother us at all.

So take it from someone who doesn’t often take the time to make reviews, Sky Burger is worth your visit. Support this local gem!

I ordered 2 big burgers through door dash and was pleasantly surprised about. Yummy! Wow they were very big, but just a bit greasy and salty, but otherwise very tasty, and the veggies were sooo fresh and good quality. I also got the pot stickers and they were yummy as well, but again, pretty greasy. I would return to try the other items on the menu But I read another review where people are touching food barehanded. There should be gloves or some other barrier method such as tongs or something. Now I'm a little worried but hopefully it will be ok.

UPDATE: I mentioned another review said the people don't use gloves at this place. I think I may have contracted salmonella from eating here. The next day I had become very ill and had been for 5 more days. I went to the doctor and had found out that's what I had. For all I know I got it from something I cooked, but no one else in my house had gotten sick. I hadn't mentioned this because I forgotten I ate here and made the above review. Then I was looking through my reviews (per Google's request) and saw this and can connect the two of these incidents. Please be careful when eating here if you notice people not wearing gloves. It's transmitted from lack of handwashing and touching food. Hopefully I'm totally wrong but I wanted to warn people because it was one of the worst stomach issues I've ever...
