When I arrived to McDonald's yesterday morning, I wasn't greeted. I needed to charge my phone which didn't charge the day before. I plugged it in the wall am needed to ensure it was charging first, as well as go to the bathroom before placing my order, as I like to have clean hands before a meal. I was asked from behind the register to my table selection, "do you have a mobile order?". I nodded my head in disagreement before going to the restroom.
Again, from behind the counter to my table selection, the question now being asked was "Are you going to place an order?". Since I was fully anticipating my order, I was taken aback by what felt like an accusation that I would not be. I asked, am I at the register or kiosk yet? To which she replied, "you can be if you would like". This is harassment and I don't like it, what responded instantly. I was just asking, you don't have to be nasty, Nora mentioned. By this time, I am contemplating my decision to pay for my usual here, or to choose a different restaurant. I was going to offer you a free coffee, I always do that, Nora says. Taking a moment to think on this, I said to her that I will accept that free coffee if that was your intention, I was just going to include it with my meal. Oh, well, you can do that if you want, she says, implying that she had different motives for rushing me to the front. I repeated the above mentioned (so as to highlight now the other part of my response to the offer) saying that I'll just start with the coffee.
Because I had been disrespected already, I wasn't sure what my pivotal plan/decision was going to be. With the coffee provided for however, I could just add a sandwich. I wrestled that this just was not any way to be caused to feel at the start of my morning. She asked if I wanted to have cream or sugar, to which I replied 8 and 8. Serving me the coffee to my table, she said, you are welcome to a free refill, too. I'm sorry about that.
After taking care of another customer and bagging a couple of orders, she returned to my table saying, "sorry, I was on auto-pilot and out of habit, when kids come I to charge their phones we ask them "what are you doing, as purchases are required". We do it to everyone, she went on to say. I feel badly, I want to buy your meal, she said. Nora made every effort to make things right! đ
I was in the establishment for all of four minutes and I hadn't yet taken my seat, anticipating going to order my breakfast. I'm not sure how that was mistaken, but I assured her that it was always my intention to buy my own breakfast and eat it as a start of this day.
I just thought it was a good idea, despite Nora's best effort to make things things right, and seeing where she errored in a magnified way, in an effort to just ensure this sort of thing doesn't happen again to anyone, I wanted to go on record. Perhaps your franchise or corporate location can decide for Nora's sake what are best practices for when the crew spots someone who may be using the establishment for reasons other than intended.
Nora did an outstanding job ensuring overall customer satisfaction. I'm knowing that this is an incredible example for the future of McDonald's. Nora decided in the end to do the right thing. She progresed in one setting in the right direction which is noteworthy commendable. We need more people...
Read more"You can either get breakfast or leave." That is the message this establishment has for it's guests, according to Matthew M. (apparently the M.O.D.).
I ordered on the mobile app, and was at the speaker before the switch from dinner to breakfast. That is what the app says is required for your order to be honored. Yet this isn't the first time I was essentially told 'oh well.' Multiple times now I have waited several minutes to give my mobile code, only to be told that it can't be honored because, THEY took too long to speak to me on the headset. Seemingly as if they specifically waited until after the switch, so they wouldn't have to honor the order.
I have been a return customer, as I work just down street. I TOO work in the service industry (and have for 22yrs), and I don't generally get a chance to eat on shift. So occasionally I try to grab some food on my way home, often times because I have to be back at work in a few hours to open. I don't particularly want to eat McDonald's breakfast as my dinner. So you can imagine my surprise when this manager can't even apologize for the inconvenience. MULTIPLE times, the SAME manager has basically told me I can order breakfast food or leave. I would never let my staff treat guests this way, as I wouldn't want my name associated with that level of customer service (or lack thereof).
Mind you, I really don't like leaving bad reviews for establishments. I don't want Matt to get reprimanded, I'm just tired of my time being wasted. So I will be taking my business elsewhere. Hopefully this message invokes some sort of change, before this business loses...
