As a proud Trinidadian, I always try to support Caribbean-owned spots—but my experience at Caribbean Dish was one of the worst I’ve ever had at any restaurant, period.

I went there recently and the owner’s attitude was absolutely disgusting. His personality? Stink. His jokes? Uncalled for and borderline offensive. And I’m not someone who gets easily offended. I get that Trinis can come off blunt sometimes—it’s part of the culture—but there’s a difference between being real and just being plain disrespectful.

This wasn’t even my first red flag. A while back, I called asking if he had roti and instead of just answering the question, he went in circles about how I can’t get roti through the phone, that I needed to come into the store, and if there’s no roti, “I don’t know what to tell you.” Upon arrival, he tried to get smart and said something like, “You don’t look like the type to get married anytime soon.” 😐 What?? Was it my clothes? My hair color? Whatever it was, that comment was unprofessional and straight-up weird.

Fast forward to this visit: my mom politely asked for some pepper sauce on the side. We ordered FIVE items. I asked for some pepper sauce on the side. What we got was a joke—one tiny container barely the size of a ketchup packet. I asked for another one, explaining it’s just not enough for the amount of food we bought. His response? “I don’t know what to tell you, figure it out.” 😒

At first, I thought he was joking—he’d been throwing sarcastic jabs at me since I walked in—but then he follows up with, “Sorry, you need to pay for another one,” and the way he said it? DISGUSTING. His tone was condescending, rude, and disrespectful—especially towards women.

And who charges for pepper sauce anyway?? You didn’t charge me for the first one, fine. But if there’s a policy, just say that! Don’t act like you’re doing me a favor. Especially when you literally said you could put pepper sauce on all five dishes—so what’s the difference between doing that and putting it in a small container?? Am I only paying for the container or what? Be real.

This place needs serious customer service training. I came for food, not to be...

My son turned 3 a couple of weeks ago, and I had a big family get-together in the area. My family is all Trini, so I knew I wanted to go with Trini food. I live in California, but needed to find someone local to cater. I called around to a few places, but none of those worked out. I was so happy when I found Caribbean Dish, and Rosemary responded to my inquiry very quickly. She helped me choose an appropriate amount of food for the 30+ people I was expecting. The price was reasonable for the amount of food that came with the order, and the food itself was soo good! I wanted to take pictures to add to this review, but it was so tasty that I always forgot about the picture until after I had already started eating! We got pans of curry goat, curry shrimp, curry chicken, curry potato and channa, stew chicken, pholourie, white rice, roti, plantain, cabbage, and a few doubles too! The order was ready on time for pick-up, and we also got help with loading everything in the car. I can't recommend this place enough, and I will definitely be ordering again whenever I am back in the area! Thank you for the really good food and amazing service! (My family thanks you too, and some will be stopping by to get more food as well! I told them to...

I will no longer be supporting or patronizing this Trinidadian cuisine carry-out restaurant. The customer service, particularly from the elderly Jamaican woman who takes orders and serves the food, is consistently poor. On several occasions, both in person and when trying to place orders over the phone, the service has been extremely disappointing.

When calling to place an order, it’s common to be put on hold for an extended period, only to never have her return to the line. Instead, you can hear her in the background engaging in personal conversations about unrelated topics. In person, she often gives customers a hard time if they want to customize their orders, such as excluding certain items like potatoes, pumpkin, or spinach. Even when you’re willing to pay for adjustments, she makes it unnecessarily difficult.

Poor customer service is unacceptable, especially considering that the food here is quite good, albeit expensive. However, I’m no longer willing to overlook bad service, even for good food. I’d rather take my business elsewhere and won’t be returning to this establishment. If good customer service is important to you, I would not recommend this restaurant as long as that elderly Jamaican woman is...

When I tell you I’m so traumatized from my recent order. I just had the exact same order the other day, I called in and picked it up. It was so delicious, oxtail fell off the bone, and the beef patty was perfectly golden, crispy and flaky. I loved it so much I ordered it again through Uber eats. Not only was the beef patty PALE/appeared uncooked, but the oxtail was terribly seasoned, overwhelmingly tasted of star anise (it was giving more Asian than Caribbean), no gravy in site, and it was super tough. Check out the picture that they use to advertise vs what I actually got. The cherry on top was it was horribly packed and came super sloppy, AND instead of rice and peas, I got overcooked white rice. I was so shocked I had to double check to make sure it was in fact the same place I ordered from just a few days ago. I’m so disappointed, a little bit of a discrepancy in quality from restaurant pickup and Uber eats delivery is forgivable, but this is beyond inexcusable. I was so ready to make this my go to Caribbean food spot but absolutely not. I took two bites and threw everything in the trash. Maybe avoid using Uber eats for your order, I’m still in so much shock.

A relatively new arrival in the area, and definitely worth a visit! Humble storefront, takeout only, but the menu is fantastic and loaded with tasty Trinidadian specialties! Various combo options available: a meat and two sides, or two meats and two sides. Also roti and paratha dishes. I had the curry goat with rice and peas, and curry potatoes. Absolutely delicious! The so-called "doubles" (a traditional street food snack) is highly recommended: fluffy fried flatbread served with channa (spicy chickpea curry), folded kinda like a taco. The "pholourie" - fried dough balls - were also amazing: light and crispy, without being greasy; the perfect on-the-go snack. The food comes with a variety of homemade sauces, ranging from mild and sweet to hot, including one bottled variety that you can buy in-house. Go check this place out! You won't be disappointed!

True carry out experience, it's not a sit down spot. Let's be real, we are here for the food! The food does not disappoint one bit. Having traveled to Trinidad and Tobago for food tourism. This is the only place in the DMV that tastes exactly like T&T. It was so damn good , and tasted fresh. Got the Veggie Roti platter , curry chicken roti platter, and rice and peas. Two Dhalpuri roti and ordered doubles but unfortunately they were sold out. Came with tamarind chutney and mango aachar The food was so good just wish it was a little spicier or there was an additional sauce. Highly recommend this place because it is affordable, delicious, and made with love
