Ordered six "giant mermaid gem cupcakes" (the newly six year old's wording) and told them to go nuts. What I got back went above and beyond - the kids were THRILLED, the cupcakes were indeed giant, and I personally deprived the poor lil children of one entire gorgeous giant confection. Delicious! The flavors are more present than any other cake I've had elsewhere. The party was at one of those Chuck e cheese esque kiddo hellscapes, loud noises and bright lights galore, stinking old carpet and parent panic sweat. I was not there, tho, soon as I bit into that cupcake. I was in a vanilla scented bath, and the air was sweet, and the world was just swirls of pastel frosting and little edible pearls.
Finally, and most importantly - the kids got dat sugar rush IMMEDIATELY. I savored my cake while they beat up a giant inflatable slide. By the time it was (finally) going home o'clock, the crash had just begun to come and she went easily.
Really mostly because those cupcakes were so huge we still had one and a half to take home and put in the fridge. So really we Do gotta go, you don't want them to melt, do you?
Of course not
It's 7:20. She is happily asleep already, dreaming of a fantastic party with killer cakes that "really looked like something a very fancy mermaid WOULD REALLY eat"
Its also a super chill place to hang out. They have what I call "jillows" (visit kias you will immediately know what I'm talking about if you don't already) and the staff is friendly and interesting. love love love love kias - absolutely a neighborhood staple and a sweet beating heart in our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOkay so I needed a celebration cake and cupcakes on the fly. I was following Kia's cakes on IG and decided to go find out what she's serving. The cupcake assortment was interesting so much that I got a dozen, and a vanilla layer cake. There are lemon blueberry, raspberry, chocolate, caramel espresso, carrot, and others. They are topped with a hefty amount of whipped frosting. šš¼š„³ the colors were rich and appeared to have real fruit in the frosting. So party time! The display of cake and cupcakes were the table centerpiece. It was hard not to dig in before eating food. Finally we were blessed with cake and OHHHH MYYY GAWD!!! THEY WERE AMAZING! First bite was this is amazing and you stop in your tracks. Before you know it, everyone was standing around the table with a cupcake silently, because they were eating CUPCAKES! The vanilla cake was great as well. Totally homemade. Not like a supermarket cake. It was moist and dense. Frosting was fluffy and delicious. Not over sweet. The chocolate cake was rich and the fruit flavored cakes exploded with fresh fruit flavor. I don't know how she got that much flavor in there. The only thing is these cakes should be refrigerated and not left out too long. The cakes were losing their structure as they sat out, but were still presentable and edible enough. Honestly I can't stop thinking about these cakes. I seriously want to eat one for breakfast. Once you have these cakes, you'll never eat big box cake again!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRecently it was my dad's birthday and I searched far and wide for an amazing carrot cake (it's his favorite) and Kia' Cakes made the most amazing and delicious cake for us š
Mrs. Kia was very nice and accommodating with my specifications for my cake, and she charges a very fair price for the amount of effort her cakes take and the quality of ingredients used.
We got a 7inch round, 3 layer carrot cake with crushed pecans on the outside and in between each layer with one of the best cream cheese frostings I have ever tasted šš¤¤
Also, she is located in a very accessible area, while there isn't the best street parking out front there's is a parking lot for the supermarket right out back and it is very close to her store.
The atmosphere inside was also very nice, there is a lot of great decor and a general very relaxing and cozy vibe. Also, while I did not order any other things while picking up my cake inside I noticed that she has very great prices for the variety and quality of things she sells. Most treats in there are between $3-6 for a cupcake, banana pudding, interesting flavored cheesecakes, quiche, and other interesting treats that I will definitely be coming back to try.
Kia and her team were very accommodating and very careful with packing my cake when I picked it up as well. It came out great, and everyone, most importantly my father loved...
