The pharmacy: I've had more issues than would be expected for a single pharmacy here. From not filling scripts my Dr sends in direct, to telling me they are ready, but upon pick up told I have to wait another day for 1 of my refills. I had $10 pre natal vitimins my Dr sent in, the next month it said $84. When I called, the girl on the phone went on about how insurance no longer covers these and I must have had something different previoussly and that's what she'd change it to. (she didn't even look at my file) thankfully I took the previous months bottle with me. She tried giving me a completely different prenatal vitamin, with diff #s, and swore it's what I had before.. I put my previous bottle down on the counter and asked to speak to the pharmacist, who corrected the matter and got me what the Dr prescribed for the same $10 that was my copay. This was annoying but not even the worst scenerio. I was recently discharged from hospital post surgery and called to ask if my hydrocodone was sent in. No the lady on the phone said "we have nothing for you". I asked her if she could please check my file because I had picked up 4 RXs ahead of my surgery and couldn't remember which they were, one might have been the hydrocodone. She told me no there was nothing on file for me. So my Dr sends in a script and we pay $18 for it, get home and sure enough on my table a bottle of hydrocodone we had already picked up and paid $18 for. Either their patient details are not kept accurately or the lady didnt even look at my file like I asked and just lied to me. This is dangerous. You gave a patient 2 bottles of a controlled opioid when they were only meant to have 1. Thankfully I am a responsible pill taker but this is irresponsible, negligent and dangerous on the pharmacy's part. I just can't understand this level of incompetence, I asked you to check my file. What is so difficult about that? Are you that over worked and understaffed your not able to look at the patients previously filled scripts when they ask? Yet you provide an answer as if you did? I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but I can't think of anything logical to explain this mess up. The Store: seems I either go when items are sold out and produce is gross or I go when the 2 lanes open + self check out are so backed up people are leaving full carts and waking...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLocation: 6200 S Pennsylvania. One of larger area Meijer stores. Wider selection in many product areas. Produce area a little smaller, more limited, than other stores. This general area of the city is a little dicey. Stay alert, hide pkgs in your vehicle, park near store, & of course, lock your doors.
Update: Dec '21. This store now has a security tower in South prkng lot. Lights and maybe cameras. Also saw one marked security vehicle. Clear warning of significant criminal activity. Was told that these changes were only due to vagrants harassing customers. I don't believe it. Try to go here in daylight and park close to entrance. Stay alert people.
Update: Aug '22. Daytime visit. The portable prkng lighting tower is gone. Did not see a security vehicle. More locked cases in sporting goods. Indicates more shoplifting problems. This store has more of a warehouse atmosphere. With plain concrete floors and dimmer lighting. Saw a few more ppl wearing pajama pants. Service at chkout was good.
Update: March '23. Nighttime visit. Security vehicle is back. Some pole lighting like other stores is brighter than before. Bus stop was moved to West side of bldg; away from the entrance. Had been on East side, closer to Pennsylvania Ave. Noticed more locked high value items in various sections. Locked cases equals greater crime. Watch your personal effects inside the store. Watch where you prk your car.
Some sketchy looking customers. Some little kids running in aisles; only loosely monitored. Some ppl in pajama pants. There was one guy sleeping on bench in entryway. Stay alert here. Daytime is a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Meijer in Mason presents a quintessential example of modern retailāefficient in many respects yet lacking in others that profoundly affect the overall shopping experience. Situated in a highly accessible and geographically advantageous location, the store offers a commendable array of goods that cater to a wide spectrum of consumer needs. The selection is both abundant and diverse, making it a pragmatic choice for those seeking a one-stop-shop solution.
For a store of this scale, one might reasonably expect a more user-friendly environment conducive to efficiency.
Of particular concern, however, is the atmosphere cultivated by the visible malaise of the staff. There is an undeniable pall over the human element of this establishment. Employees often appear fatigued, disengaged, andāat timesāpalpably disheartened. While I cannot speak to the root causes, it contributes to an ambiance that is far from welcoming.
On a more favorable note, the in-store pharmacy offers an exceptional degree of convenience, particularly for those with regular prescriptions or medical needs. It remains one of the few consistently pleasant aspects of the location. That said, the departure of the Huntington Bank branch is a conspicuous loss; its absence diminishes the holistic utility that once made this Meijer uniquely convenient.
In summation, while the Mason Meijer remains a functional and moderately appealing retail destination, its deficienciesāparticularly in navigability and employee moraleātemper what could otherwise be a superior...
