Kind of a long story but it is meant to be told.
So my dad Alan loved getting steak dinner at Airport Tavern, and after the first time we brought him, he never stopped talking about it, I think he even dreamed about it. Haha..
Then the recent temporary closer happen & he was the sadest man, however when you opened back up and he was so excited and couldnt wait to go out for a steak again! Shortly after his health started to decline and became difficult to go out for dinner. We spent thanksgiving in the hospital, a week later we received news his body was failing and moved him to my brother's home in Charlotte. As we prepared we realized 6th of December was my father & step-mother 49th wedding anniversary, and sadly there would not be a 50th celebration.
So my brothers & I gathered up flowers, candles and setting up a romantic last anniversary to make the night as special as we could. I called Airport Tavern and talked to the bartender (I think the owners son) and explained the situation and asked for a pick up of a special steak dinner for 2. He said we'll have it ready in 15 min! I drove straight there from work and it was all ready to go to deliver to Charlotte, MI.
My dad was so excited he cried. In fact we all cried. The steaks were the biggest and most beautiful dinners I have ever seen from Airport Tavern! This was his & their last dinner. A very joyful 49th anniversary which I cannot thank Airport Tavern enough for helping us make this happen, it truly filled our hearts! I haven't been able to write about it until now, 4 months later, but I never forgot about what you did to help make my dad's last days happy ones.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ...
Read morePretty good spot that's been around for years ! This is our first time and we will definitely be back. We walked in and were greeted by everyone we passed. We were told to seat ourselves. It was starting to get busy and I was worried it was going to be long wait for service and or food. Yhe atmosphere had 80 and 90s rock playing and you can hear sports the screens even with all of th people and the hustle and bussle.of the kitchen, it was still a pretty decent volumn in the restaurant. I am not sure our waitress name (she never gave it) but she was awesome. I ordered a 6 oz (medium cook)sirloin with green beans and rice pilaf that came with texas toast. My husband ordered a double cheese burger, added bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle and mustard with fries. The food came out very fast, the waitress was nice and attentive. The cook on my steak was a tad over done but nothing worth complaining about. It was very flavorful and didn't need the A1 I asked for. The green beans could have used a little salt and less garlic if you are partial to garlic but were good. My husbands burger was cooked to perfection and humungous. Each patty was 1/3 lb and super juicy. He couldn't even finish it. He did try. Everything came to about $27 without any drinks other...
Read moreWent here on a Friday around 6:00pm with a party of 3. No wait to be seated. I had the prime rib special with a baked potato and salad and it was honestly one of the best I'd had in a long time. It was a 10 ounce special for $29.95 which I thought was fairly price for all that came with it. Came out medium rare just as I requested and it was a little bigger than advertised which was great. The other two in my party each had burgers and fries which were cooked exactly as requested, both said they were delicious. I have to say, the fries they served were great and much better than the type I used to see here a couple years ago. I can't remember our servers name but she was outstanding. She had a great sense of humor and took great care of us making sure we're good to go and always kept our drinks refilled. The place might be a little beaten down but it was clean and accommodating. I was happy to hear they opened up again even if the hours are a bit abbreviated and the menu is slimmed down but I'd go back. These days eating out for me is a treat and only happens once a month and I'm happy with this experience and would...
