Well gosh, I hate to be the bearer of bad news..but..I was not impressed at all with this particular restaurant. When you walk in there is nothing to direct you to go left and look at their menu board, then order and pay for your meal at the little window. You then get your own beverage and flatware in a separate dining room, and pending on the table number you got assigned, you walk through that dining area to the 1st where you come in at. The menu board doesn't carry much variety, and in fact all three meals fit easily on, the 3 being breakfast, lunch, and dinner. About 4 or 5 items in each is all. I ordered the Jamestown i believe. 4 biscuits coveted in a spicy sausage gravy, and cheddar cheese with 2 easy eggs ( i had to order mine medium, uncooked whites..yuck!) and red-skinned potatoes that were very heavy on the garlic. I looked all over for the potatoes, and found maybe a tablespoons quantity buried deep in the center. When the owner who was also the coffee server came bye and asked about our meal, i showed him. He came back with a cup of potatoes to make it good. I did appreciate his effort to make this very spicy dish taste better. Okay, cleanliness they get a 3, as their coffee pots would have run all over everywhere had i not switched pots, the coffee cups are i think garage sale specials, not 1 matched. The restroom was very small and cold, but clean. The dining areas were both clean, but small..very small. There was a lot of junk on the walls, no flow through. It looked like they were in a rush so nailed license plates everywhere. I personally suffer from acid reflux, very bad to be honest, so i wish they'd marked that meal hot or spicy. I would never order that meal again. Everything on the menu was $9.99 and up, so I don't think I'll go back. Based upon my experience, would not recommend the Fiddler...
Read moreWe drive by this location to and from work but never stopped in to eat before the previous restaurant closed. Took notice when it looked like it was going to reopen under a new name, not sure how it's pronunced, but it was fun to see it take shape as we too are relatively new to the area and appreciate a good meal within driving distance of our little town of Wacousta. Recently checked it out online and found lots of great reviews and their Facebook page and was pleasantly surprised at the large number of followers. Being that they close early and aren't open on Mondays, logistically speaking, we had to make plans in advance to go which only added to the excitement of visiting this special little gem. This morning, we we checked Facebook to review the menu knowing we would have to order before being seated. Once that was done we headed out, hoping to beat the crowds and wait time for a table. Fidlers did not disappoint. We got right in and ordered, mentioning it was our first visit. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely welcoming. My husband ordered the biscuit and gravy breakfast (huge) and I had the french toast sticks with bacon and a side of scrambled eggs. I smothered my eggs with some of the delicious gravy and I don't even like gravy! We did not leave hungry and had leftovers from both meals along with 2 cinnamon rolls for later. As we were leaving, people kept coming in and we realized we were lucky to have gotten there when we did. Thank you for coming to our area and making 2 foodies very happy. Please keep doing what you're doing and never sacrifice quality, portion size, cleanliness...
Read moreI think this is one of the absolute best places I've ever eaten. Sadly, we're passing through on our way home to Texas so we can't be regulars. Everything was incredible.
My husband got the broasted chicken with homemade coleslaw, homemade cornbread, and mac & cheese. I got the brisket mac & cheese extra creamy with some combo of Gouda and cheddar.
The chicken is incredibly moist, flavorful, and crispy. Hard combination to nail.
The coleslaw is a mix of styles. Loved it. Not too sweet, little bit of tang, and great crunch.
The mac & cheese can be customized a bit in the creaminess since all of the food is made to order. I desperately need to figure out how to make this myself. Not only was mine slathered in cheese, I swear each noodle was also filled with cheese.
And the brisket. I've eaten plenty of brisket in my day being from Texas. This brisket has all fat removed twice and is smoky and flavorful beyond belief. It needs no sauce. The meat shines and the flavors unfold in layers! You can tell hours and hours of prep goes into the brisket.
We didn't have room for the cornbread, so we took it to go with one of the cinnamon rolls.
You pay when you order. The owner was so very helpful as he took our ordering offering menu advice and later stopping by the table to chat about the food and bring us two different sauces to try.
Cute decor. Loved the grab your own mug coffee area and the deck of cards in every table.
Seriously awesome WiFi too!
Go here. You...
