I visited Alicia's restaurant with high hopes after reading numerous positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience left me disappointed. It became clear that many of these reviews were likely from friends and family, as the food did not live up to the praise.
For $9, I received two tacos, a scoop of rice, and a scoop of beans. The rice tasted old, likely having been out for a few days, as evidenced by its flavor. Being Hispanic, I can tell when cumin-flavored rice has been sitting out, and this was definitely the case. The taco shells were decent, but the rest of the meal was underwhelming. I could have made something better with an Old El Paso mix.
Regrettably, I cannot recommend this restaurant. It offers overpriced, subpar food typical of many Americanized Mexican restaurants. The owner was particularly rude, though the young man, Stevie, and a young lady named Kayla were both friendly and helpful. The owner’s poor manners detracted significantly from the experience.
For better American-Mexican food at a more reasonable price, I suggest going to Famous Taco. They offer good food without the high prices and poor service. I ate a bite of taco and a taste of rice. Horrible experience. Waste of...
Read moreDoesn't look like anything special from the outside, but inside is a wonderful place for breakfast or lunch. Order at the counter (Alicia will probably be the one taking your order and prepping your food), and have a seat to wait. I visited on a weekday morning for breakfast, and ordered the eggs and chorizo, which was served with beans and potatoes. Tortillas were thick and had been grilled so they were hot and a little crisp in spots. It was a large serving, more than I could eat.
Alicia did a wonderful job making us feel welcome on our first visit, and I plan on returning. Another interesting aspect of this restaurant is the "Community Prayer Wall", which is exactly what it sounds like. There is a small deli section as well, and they do a brisk take out business. Stop in, you will not leave hungry or...
Read moreWe tried this place for the first time tonight. I got one beef and one chicken taco. They were both flavorful and well complimented by the cilantro, lime and onion. I had half of a beef tostada which was tasty. And half of their apple burrito, which is a fried burrito with apple pie filling and dusted with cinnamon and sugar. The salsa was flavorful, and the spicy version had a nice low heat. My wife and friends had similar positive experiences and topped off the night with an amazing Mexican Wedding cake.
By leagues they are the best Mexican restaurant in town and you can get several items out of a chilled case to take home. I will...
