Our family has a love of Indian cuisine and the new Bombay Mahal restaurant in Lansing was a must try for us when traveling into the town for a birthday celebration! It was a wonderful first visit. A widely varied menu provided everyone a choice to their liking, from spicy meat selections to vegetarian choices, they provide an array of opportunities for every palate. The staff is very welcoming, quick and eager to assist in every way. The food was served exactly to our specifications, piping hot and in large portion sizes, with plenty of leftovers to take home. We ordered a plethora of varied meals from chicken and lamb to vegetarian in a vast range of spice levels from very mild to very hot and it all was spot on, exactly to order and fabulous! Sauces on primary dishes were richly flavored and everything was freshly prepared, vegetable samosas and naan were superb, water was ice cold and kept filled to the rim. Both our server and the owner or chef were very attentive and gracious, without being the least bit intrusive - making for a top shelf experience. Thank you for an excellent dinner Bombay Mahal! Our only regret was not taking photos of our feast - we were so eager to eat it that we just dove right in! Yummy!!!...
Read moreWow! Great job all around! I didn't know about this spot until it caught my eye driving past the other day and I saw something new had opened. I was excited to see real Indian food on the west side. Now that I know it's high quality for a good price, I will also have to stop in to eat in the dining room, which they clearly keep very clean (looked like they just scrubbed the floors when I stopped in). The staff is also friendly and helpful as well, and my pick up order was ready a few minutes earlier than expected.
I ordered the Lamb Korma, Roti, Butter Naan, and the cottage cheese based dessert, with a Mango Lassi to drink. The portions of all items were large (and the dessert was twice the size of some spots in East Lansing), lamb was flavorful and tender, and actually the rice was notably great too. (I almost never finish my rice when meals come with it, but I'm polishing it off as I write this!)
Thanks to the kitchen and front staff for the wonderful meal, and I look forward to trying the rest...
Read moreWe had dinner at the new Bombay Mahala on the west side of Lansing tonight, and overall, it was a great experience! The wait was a bit long, but that’s understandable for a brand-new restaurant finding its rhythm.
The chicken tikka masala was cooked to perfection, and the samosas were honestly some of the best we've had—crispy, flavorful, and piping hot. A couple of our usual go-to dishes didn’t hit quite the same way as at other places, but we’re hopeful those recipes will evolve over time.
It’s great to have an Indian restaurant on this side of town—definitely saves us a trip across Lansing. Next time, we’ll try medium spice since the mild didn’t have much heat. Looking forward to seeing...
