I have a complicated relationship with Zoobie's and Cosmos. On one hand, they make VERY good pizza, a good beer selection and I enjoy both the bar and the outdoor seating. On the other it is my experience that the service can be sub par here. Generally if you sit outside you can expect your drinks to take 10+ minutes to come out. Also recently I was here with a friend who gets very sick when eating certain foods. When they requested a pizza without two of the listed ingredients they were told that only one ingredient could be removed from any pizza. After a very long back and forth where the server tried very hard to find a middle ground between the cook and my friend, it became clear that the only option was to just 'trust' the cook to make something my friend would be able to eat instead of just tweaking a menu item in a way that they knew would work for their stomach. I understand that the cook has pride in their recipes and doesn't want to compromise the taste, but going so far as to alienate some long time customers who were trying to introduce some friends to your business for the sake of your pride was a bit much for me. All that said, I give them two stars. One for the taste of the pizza, another for the brave efforts of the server who did try to help us out in that situation. Just don't try to change any of...
Read moreVisiting a friend from Muskegon and we tried going to Lansing Brewing Company on a Friday evening only to find it jam packed. Friend suggested Zoobie's, "I think you'll like this place," she said.
We drove right past it the first time because you see Cosmos Pizza from the road heading North on Larch St and Zoobies's is off to the right down Chavez.
We pull in and it's not much to look at, your typical dive bar exterior. The interior has its original wood floors, fun modern Edison LED bulb light fixtuers, great seating options from bar, hightop, & bench/standard for parties of 2 persons or more.
The food menu is simple and to the point. We snacked on the Truffle oil, Sea salt & Pepper popcorn and a DDD Duck Sausage pizza.
Drinks range from a fair selection of draft Michigan craft beer, wine by the glass, craft cocktails & mules! I started with a beer, but had to try a cocktail or two! Was not disappointed! I asked our server Marina (who was Excellent btw) to surprise me w/a "Trust Us". My first drink was what I would call a New Age Ol' Fashioned. The second "Trust Us" I requested it have a Gin base. It was some kind of Gin Mojito that had a bright summery taste. Beautifully made and drinks and so so tasty!!!
Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a lowkey evening with good atmosphere,...

Tonight, for bday, decided to walk riverwalk with our dog then eat, double checked by googling "pet friendly restaurants in Old Town Lansing." Zoombies pops up. So off we went....asked guy in pizza area how to enter patio with dog...he walked us back to a gate. Said pick anywhere. Then waitress walks up and informs us no dogs. I said no, your wrong can you please ask the manager...explaining the previously stated. Out comes a guy chest out saying we do not allow dogs here...we serve food here...we began explaining and he interrupts us, very cocky, trying to talk over us. No dogs are allowed and thats the rule. He must have a personality issue of control and I will be contacting the owner. It was extremely embarrassing and unprofessional. He acted like he wanted to fist fight and yelled Sir, lesve your dog at home. We got a picture if him standing confrontational, glaring. Happy frickin Bday. So unbelievable. Lol. Dont believe anyone or the online info. They apparently are poorly managed. Run!! Now we are relaxing at City Market. The waitress greeted our Golden with a lot of attention and brought him ice water. We...
