I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at Machados. It is newly named, with new owners and it was rumored to be much better then the establishmentās prior owners and menu.
First off the place is still adjusting so permanent signage has not arrived yet but there is indoor and outdoor seating which I really like! The lady that was in front of me and my buddy had a list of items on her phone it was apparently ordering lunch for her entire family. It was like eight burgers three chicken sandwiches sides etc. I thought we be waiting a while for our food but that is not what happened!
I ordered the bacon cheeseburger on a focaccia roll and their Piggy Tots. Tater tots topped with pulled pork, nacho cheese, chili etc.! I got the small order or tots.
The food arrived very quickly and was quite tasty. It came in disposable containers but the place has that side of the road place on those long road trips where you walk up to a window and order. Which by the way is how you do it here!! Very cool old school feeling!
Burger was cooked decently and the sauce on it was amazing!!! It was a was very very good sauce was one of the best Iāve had in a while and the focaccia bun really held everything together well. It did not fall apart like typical bread buns.
The Piggy Tots were just what I had hoped in they would be. Pulled pork over toasted tater tots with all the trimming! Nacho cheese, chili, beans, jalapeƱo slices etc. Tots were nice and crisp and the toppings were wonderful!
I will go back and I am looking forward to trying their tri-tip...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time eater as I went in with a co-worker who had been here before. I ordered an Ortega burger and fries. This is not a fast food place and your order will take a few minutes for it to cook, but it is worth the short wait. Both Burger and fries were very good. It's hard to find crinkle french fries anywhere these days, but this place had them and I enjoyed them. As for the hamburger it was worthy of a billboard picture. And that's the good news.
The bad news is this was an expensive lunch. For the aforementioned items plus an iced tea the bill ran me $15 plus. That's almost exactly what Five Guys had charged me for basically the same thing. As good as my lunch was, I think it could have been a little bit cheaper. And I would be remissed not to point out that the inside dining area was filled with smoke from the kitchen and it was actually difficult to breathe in there. Fortunately it was a nice day and we were able to eat outside.
Overall I'd say this place is not a bad choice for a good lunch, but due to its prices I recommend you do it infrequently.
Edited on 4/10/19 because I was rushed and didn't proofread my previous posting. Hopefully that first paragraph wasn't too...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely loved this place back when it was Buns and Burgers (I'd argue that it had, at least for a summer, THE best burgers in the area), but have gone back over the years as it's changed, and was usually disappointed (to be entirely fair, I think the fires we've had in the area around that time REALLY screwed stuff up, so I can understand why things changed a bunch). I eventually vowed to just stop going back (can only fool me so many times!), but a family member ended up taking me here once it was called Machado Burgers, and I was pleasantly surprised!
We've been back a few times, and have enjoyed it every time. Usually stick to the burgers, and so far, we haven't had any issues. The patties are big, juicy, and tasty. The buns are super nice and pair well with the patties. The fries have been rock solid, and you get a heaping portion of them to boot. We've even done their milkshakes and those have been quite large and super thick, especially for the price.
Maybe not quite the highs of the place of yore, but so far, has been WAY more consistent than it was previously, so kudos to the team who...
