The atmosphere was nice since this location is relatively new, so that's why I will give our visit 2 stars instead of 1. BUT! The table service was terrible. After waiting for quite a while, I finally got up and got menus for my group since the wait staff had not even looked at our table since we'd been there. Finally we get drinks orders... That took a while too. (Did they have to grow the tea leaves and then brew the tea???) The waitress didn't have the best attitude ever and didn't ever say a whole lot. We were there just over an HOUR before we finally got our food. A quesadilla, chicken strips, soup & chicken fried steak. NOT a meal that would require that much time to prepare. When we started getting our food, it was brought over one. part. at. a. time. I'm usually not one to write a review (don't have a lot of time to spare) on things, but I think this time I needed to share our experience. Even getting our tickets took a couple times asking and took a while. We will NOT be making a habit out of going all the way out to Highway 70 just for Denny's. The one downtown is not the absolute best, but it is certainly better than our experience at this location. This new Denny's won't last too long if they don't get better customer service, etc. Bad customer service is a pet peeve of mine..... I should mention though that the food tasted OK but could have been warmer. I didn't complain out loud about it.
The power was out downtown, so we couldn't go to the Denny's downtown. I tried calling this Denny's SEVERAL times to see if they were open, but every time I'd call, I'd get a busy signal. We arrived to a nearly empty restaurant and were passively greated as they told us it would be a while until we could be sat as we waited we saw a waitress drop several coffee filters on the ground and then pick them up and put them back. After about 5-10 min we were told to pick a seat anywhere by one server and then told not yet the table wasn't cleaned by another. We were sat and after another 10-15 min of watching our waiter walk constantly back and forth doing nothing he finally came and took our drink order which took another 5 or so min to get. As we were looking at the menue we saw several tables that had to flag him down to get their orders taken and they were sat way before us. It took our waiter almost another 10 before he came to our table to get our order after we flagged him down. We were waiting for our order for over 30 min during which our drinks sat empty until we once again flagged him down for refills and we were assured several times that our food was coming right out or was finishing up. Tables that were there before us were barely getting their food and at least 2 tables that arrived after us were served their food before us. We had a small situation with our food and kindly requested to our nice waitress if we could have something cooked a little more than it was. She kindly said of course. A few minutes later the manager approaches us to ask how everything was. We let him know ok and what we had changed in our order. His response was "let me explain something to you" in a passive aggressive manner. He then explained to us about how to properly order our meals next time and the correct lingo to use.That the way we ordered was incorrect. I honestly didn't think it was a big deal, what made it a big deal was the managers tone and approach, almost upset interrupting us when we would try to respond and talk, he ended with I'm just letting you know for next time. To which one of my family members already upset responded with "there won't be a next time" It was not a busy morning it was not packed we were not rude. There was at least 5 different ways he could have approached, or he didn't even have to approach us at all. Especially when it wasn't even a big deal and was being taken care of. I would not recommend dining here.
