First and last time trying this place…Horrible horrible horrible experience, placed an order through Uber eats for pickup …. When I arrive to pickup my order and give my name the woman at the counter acts as if she doesn’t know what I’m saying or talking about … I understand this is a Mexican restaurant but cmon the folks working should know how to communicate somewhat when it comes to English smh … so I show her my phone and there’s still some type of confusion smh we’re standing there staring at each other for at least 3 min until she turns around and pulls a bag from behind a box 😒… so I got my order and I made sure to check it before I left due to the reviews of them not giving folks their complete order etc.. so I ordered a carne asada burrito, carne asada fries, and a hard shell chicken taco… the burrito I received only had meat and pico so I went back to the register to try and ask the lady at the register if it could be fixed … before I could even fully explain to her a man (I believe the cook) that’s in the middle of helping another customer jumps in and starts talking ..but I continue talking to the lady because why are you rudely hopping out of the conversation your having and jumping into ours … so he continues talking so I start explaining to him the issue that I’m having and he proceeds to tell me that it’ll cost me $6 more for them to put cheese, lettuce, rice, beans, and sour cream on the burrito … I’m trying to figure out why would it cost me more if that’s exactly what I ordered and paid for off tops…. He continues on and on about how he’s been there 5 yrs and I’m wrong even though it’s in plain sight on their menu in the restaurant & the same exact way on Uber eats.. even pointed it out to him on that big a$& menu they have on the wall and on my phone.. the guy even showed me on their tablet himself & he still refused to fix the issue and told me to contact Uber 🤣… outside of the f’d up burrito that I gave to my dogs … the fries and taco had absolutely no flavor what so ever .. you have no choice but to drown them in salsa and lime/lemon juice << had to beg for those items as well.. they acted as if they didn’t want to give them to me tbh .. like why am I begging for limes and salsa that I asked to be included when I placed my order… the Mexican food out here can’t compare to cali’s Mexican food at all

I’ve been a loyal customer of Habaneros for years, always trusting them to deliver authentic and delicious Mexican food. Growing up in San Diego, I know what GOOD Mexican food is supposed to taste like, and Habaneros has usually been my go-to spot. However, after my recent experience, I’m extremely disappointed and questioning whether I’ll ever return. I ordered a steak and egg breakfast burrito, which is supposed to come with steak, eggs, cheese, and potato—everything I was looking forward to. But to my shock, what I received was a burrito filled mostly with eggs and bacon. BACON! There was no steak in sight. Not a single piece. This isn’t just about a simple mistake; it’s about business ethics and quality control. If you’re going to charge me for steak, then I expect to get what I paid for. Cutting corners like this is completely unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that I’ve supported for so long. It’s incredibly frustrating to feel cheated by a place I’ve trusted for years. This is not the kind of service or quality I expect from Habaneros, and it’s disappointing to see the standards drop so low. As someone who grew up in SD (specifically CHULA VISTA/CHULAJUANA), where great Mexican food is part of the culture, I can’t overlook this kind of carelessness. I’m sad to say that Habaneros has lost my trust, and I won’t be returning unless I see some serious changes. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously because this type of service is a surefire way to lose loyal customers like myself.

I LOVE the morning/day staff here! The food is always on point, and they don't mind substitutions or specific orders. Breakfast burritos, rolled tacos, nachos, it's always consistently good! Today I had carne asada nachos and got red AND green sauce. Both are equally delicious! I also got a side of rice and it's cooked and seasoned perfectly! I can't wait until next time to try something new!

I drive by this place pretty regularly and thought tonight is the night I try them out. I pulled over and immediately came to yelp looking for reviews and was happy with so many positives. I parked and asked if I could see a menu since my children were asleep in the car. They quickly handed me one and I began figuring out what I wanted to order. I drive up to the window and placed my order and began to wait.

I was handed a cup of ice water while I waited and thought that was nice of them... Now I know why. My order of veggie pad Thai and fried egg rolls took 25 or so minutes! I didn't mind waiting too much since my children were napping and needed the sleep. When the girl delivers my order I was told I should have called in since tonight was busy... As I drove off I decide to check it and see I only got four egg rolls when the menu says five pcs. I drive back and asked about it and was given attitude. Basically I was told all their regulars knew it was only four pieces and the menu board said four pieces so I should have known it was four even though the menu they gave me minutes before I ordered said five. After that I asked for a refund of the egg rolls as I didn't appreciate being blamed for their mistake and me not knowing the correct amount. We came to an agreement that I would get one more egg roll and no refund. I saw the woman put something in the microwave and was hoping that was not my egg roll. She checked out the to go menus and made a comment that now she will have to change the menus and I'm the only one who has ever had a problem with it. She then went out to the menu board and came back and said that the menu board and the non to go menus all say four and that they will give me an extra egg roll this time but wouldn't next time. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME????? She acted as if I was trying to screw them over (one egg roll mind you) and it was all my fault. At that point I was done. I told them I wanted a refund and handed back the food. Basically 30 minutes wasted and no food to show for it. I was really looking forward to supporting a local business tonight, but with so much attitude and blame on a customer, that didn't happen. I'm a very honest person and was not rude to them in any way. If the menu I'm handed says five pieces I expect to see five pieces. There was no reason for them to be rude to me in any way over this. Needless to say, I will...

My husband was the one that actually found this place. When I asked him where it was I was confused because I have never seen it before. It's directly on Rainbow between Washington and Silverstream. The same shopping center as Dotty's and Family Dollar. Its a small shop and right next to the subway. The entrance to the drive-thru was a little awkward to pull into but luckily the area isn't really crowded. The prices are a very fair for the amount of food they give you. The only thing is that there is a small wait time to get your food in the drive thru. Regardless, I can attest that the quality of the food makes up for the wait time. Inside is very small too. They have a couple tables. If you had about 4 people in line you might have to wait outside the door. The cashier was very kind and even acknowledged my kids. He made conversations with them and offered them some horchata. To me this is a huge gesture because he did not have to engage with my kids since I am the one paying. Every single time I've gone the employees are very neighborly and generous. They make sure to ask me every time if I would like salsa and to step it up notch they even list out the types they have. I love all the salsas and I ask for one of each haha. I also asked him to hook me up with some limes and they never hesitate to give me any. We always get the carne asana and al pastor fries. The fries are big portions! I have a family of four and we split the 2 orders. I loveee to eat and I can barely finish my portion. I am so in love with these fries that I have yet to try anything else. I swear I will get something else! I know they are authentic and won't disappoint. I really hope this place gets busier (even though I might end up waiting...
