I rarely go to Arizona Charlies and it's been years since I ate at the Sourdough Cafe. I know it's a budget locals place and a lot of people go here after a night of gambling. I had a $15 Comp , so I decided to give it another try. The couple times I got a Comp that I used , I did takeout at the PT Express for chicken wings and I did a sandwich once too. It wasn't too busy when I went later in the night on Saturday to my surprise.
I sat at the bar since the host / cashier was busy checking people out and couldn't sit me at a table. I ordered a draft beer and the Ultimate Western Bacon Cheeseburger which is a 1/2lb beef patty, pulled pork, bacon, onion rings, cheddar cheese, smoky BBQ sauce, toasted bun with fries for $13.99. I have to say the burger really surprised me , it was old school charbroiled tasty burger like you used to get not the bland tasting flat grill burger or the ones with fake grill marks on it. The pulled pork on it was actually pretty good too considering most places in Nevada don't have really good pulled pork. But the one bad thing I can say and I just realized it was that mine didn't have onion rings on it. I was just looking at the menu now online and realized that now.
The fries were decent , but not great , did the job. All sandwiches served with choice of fries, coleslaw or potato salad. Substitute tater tots or sweet potato fries add $.0.99. Substitute onion rings or side salad add $1.99. My draft beer was not very good. I think my mug still had remnants of cleaning soap on it causing it to taste a little funny. I would have asked for a different drink , but my waitress went on break and I was like a little soapy taste won't kill me. It was a large mug , I believe 22 ounces.
They have a lot of specials and daily specials to choose from. They are posted just outside the door. The regular burger special is pretty cheap , but I wanted a little more with mine and I do recommend the burger , but next time I would get onion rings instead...
Read moreEPIC FAIL!!!!! Hands down this was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I was on a business trip this past week in Las Vegas and stayed at Arizona Charlie's on Decatur. The Sourdough Cafe is the only sit down restaurant open at this Hotel due to Covid. I unfortunately are there 3 times. My first experience was breakfast, I ordered the Farmhouse. breakfast which consist of bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and toast simple. When I got my food the eggs were alright and hashbrowns were good but the bacon was weird in that it didn't look right it was over cooked and just didn't taste right however it wasn't worth complaining about or sending it back. The next day I went earlier thinking maybe everything will be better because I'm here at 7am. I ordered the same thing but this time it was worse the eggs were runny, the bacon was barely cooked and almost raw and the hashbrowns were over cooked burnt and just bad. I barely ate but didn't want to complain and I didn't have time to send it back. The next day I took a Lyft to another restaurant for breakfast. Later that same evening I decided to give the Sourdough Cafe one more try and eat there for dinner. How you mess up Cheese Enchiladas is beyond me. They brought a plate of Cheese Enchiladas where the cheese wasn't melted and the tortillas were lukewarm. Now I'm livid so much so that this time I had to speak with the restaurant manager and share my experience at this restaurant. I sent the food back and refused to try anything else. If you can't get cheese enchiladas right or bacon and eggs and hashbrowns right I have no desire to try anything else. While she didn't charge me for this bad food I was still hungry and had to walk to McDonald's off which I hate for dinner. This was unacceptable on so many levels. I'm tired of restaurants serving bad food and ridiculous prices. The inconvenience of having to go off site to eat definitely put a...
Read moreSourdough Cafe at Arizona Charlie's Cafe is dated with booths and a design going back to when the casino first opened. There gas been no refresh of the interior and it's wood bench seating and thin cushions.
Food is either hit or miss although they have some great specials that offer added discounts with card status.
Even when not busy, you might find yourself waiting an extremely long time for your meal.
Since it's right down the road, I eat here often for the convenience.
Notable is a 90 minute wait for two club sandwiches as a dine in Going on 45 minutes for a hamburger to go with less than 10 diners inside. An hour wait for a breakfast three days ago.
They've encountered numerous issues with their computer system or being short staffed which forced them to close the door to additional people being sat.
There are some great servers though that know your name and greet you with a smile. Gaye, Angie, and hostess Liz are three to definitely ask for.
Cheap eats, food inconsistent, a few wonderful servers and cashiers
For what is an uncomplicated menu, they need to do better in the kitchen. Get the staff, pay a little more to the cooks because no one should be in a Cafe for 90 min unless they want to be. It shouldn't take 45 min for a rare burger. At the least, be transparent about the wait.
Note. When I rate service, I'm not talking about the wait staff but the time it takes orders to...
