Jake's Pour House — Restaurant in LaSalle

No I normally don't write a review for a pub. But I came here because I was told they had pretty good food. When I went inside the place was small. The bartender was very attentive, and very polite. They had plenty of TVs for the size of their building. The drinks are made well and they're priced competitively. But but I have to tell you about the food. I only tried to menu items the first what's called The Garlic G-spot. It was a really good garlic poor boy sandwich. The second was a simple Italian beef sandwich, now when I looked at this, it was made in a way that I have never seen before and let me tell you it works far better than any other way I've ever had an Italian beef sandwich. But as cool as that is...it's the taste of it. It was hands down better than any Italian beef sandwich that I've ever had in my life. It was so good in fact that I couldn't even put it down to stop eating it, to get my phone out and take a picture of it. I'm not recommending the food, I'm telling you that you absolutely have to try this Italian beef. Once you've had it, you will go back for more. Now I don't know about the rest of the food yet but after my experience with that sandwich I have to try other food there. if the rest of their menu is as good as that sandwich then this place is sitting on a gold mine just waiting to be discovered. Quite disappointed at Jake's. Good reviews did not live up to the expectation. As a "pourhouse" mis-nomer, they have NO draft beer and the bottle selection is very limited, mostly regular domestic stuff with a couple extras...I settled for a Dos Equis (as an IPA fan). Went on Tuesday taco night...good idea eh? Only option was ground beef tacos, no other menu items. At all. Nice seating in the garage (open), 2 big tv's, server and bartender were pleasant. Food and beer were cheap (did I mention really cheap?) 3 tacos for $6. 2 beers for $6.50. I split the tab as a business dinner, and they won't accept credit cards for any charges less than $10. SMH. Even asked server to tack on a $5 service charge, no dice (for food on company card, expense reimbursement). I cant forgive myself for living in peru for years and never trying Jake's until yesterday. Those French fries tasted like they were made by God himself and sent back down to earth. My first bite, i screamed OMG THESE FRIES ARE FIRE much louder than i intended, and the table ahead of us turned around and looked at me like my hair was on fire. I didnt even mean to. Mouth orgasm. My italian beef? Big, cheesy, the AuJu was phenomenal!! My son had a grilled cheese....simple grilled cheese right? Idk what they did or how but that grilled cheese had all of us stunned.
