44 Burrito — Restaurant in Lathrup Village

Me and a friend of mine went here a while ago and first off let me just say the food is HIGHLY OVER PRICED for the mediocre quality it is! My friend and I had two separate orders, each consisted of 2 deep fried burritos (mine was beef and his was chicken) and 2 steak tacos each. We waited over an hour and a half for 2 burritos and 4 tacos and there was ONLY one other person in the restaurant when we arrived and she said she'd been waiting quite a long time as well. We finally get our food after almost 2 hours only to get home and discover BOTH orders were completely messed up. It was one burrito per order, they both were beef and it was only ONE taco each and neither taco was steak (both were ground beef) I call the restaurant and the cashier acted like she didn't know who or what I was talking about and we were there less than 15 minutes ago AND IT WAS ONLY ONE OTHER PERSON IN FRONT OF US! I tell her the situation and first she tries to tell me to come back tomorrow and I told her no, I'm coming back to the restaurant to get what we ordered and I'll bring the receipt. I get there 15 minutes later to claim the 2 missing tacos and the correct burrito. I get there and have to wait another 45 minutes for them to produce the food. I get it, look in the bag and theres 2 tacos and no burrito. I tell her the cashier then she literally asks me "what do you want to do about it?"...um....I WANT WHAT WE PAID FOR! She finally gets me the burrito only for me to return to the house and discover...its another beef burrito when I CLEARY SAID IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CHICKEN! And both tacos were ground beef when it was supposed to be steak....All in all a horrible experience and as previously stated the food is HIGHLY OVER PRICED for the pathetic quality it is. Deep fried burrito? No, it is an oil soaked and tastless sponge. No crispy quality at all. There's little to no flavor in the food whatsoever and for ONE burrito to be $10-$13 I think thats ridiculous. I'm all for supporting black owned businesses, but this one is very poor quality in both food AND service. I will NEVER RETURN and I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE! If you want good mexican food I suggest the gas station that is on Livernois and Michigan ave or any of the taco trucks in Mexican village on Vernor Hwy. This place has a lot of growing and discovering to do before they decide to call this OVER PRICED GARBAGE food. Calling it "Mexican cuisine" is an insult to my taste buds. At 6:53 PM 12/3/24 on my way back to my job after a long cold day of work. I asked the young lady at the counter for a chicken burrito fried. She offered with grilled onions and peppers? I said yes she told me the order will be ready in 10 minutes, after asking how long will it take? I received the order 14 minutes later, I tipped and proceeded to wait on my order. When I receive my order, I immediately left because I needed to get back to my Work garage, seeing that it was late and on the clock, while eating the burrito, I noticed I didn’t taste any meat only beans and cheese, I’ve then looked at the Receipt on the bag and noticed it said beef burrito. I called immediately to let the young lady know my other was wrong, she said that she would let her manager know and to bring the receipt back and she asked for my name. The next day (today 12/4/24), I called and asked to speak to the manager and the woman stated, the manager was not in., I explain the situation then the woman stated, “ let me call her because I wasn’t in yesterday (Yet, initially she stated the manager wasn’t in) She put me on hold and called the young lady, and when she returned to me, Can you bring the burrito in that you ordered? I stated it’s in the trash. The young lady only said bring my receipt and asked for my name, so I immediately just said, “OK and hung up.. I take responsibility for being in a rush and not looking at my receipt. However, this is not how you handle a mistake with a customer. The title stated, “Taste of Soul”. Ms. Tee is very rude and unprofessional. I called up there after getting home to let them know that my 2 orders of nachos did not have all the toppings shown on the menu and the receipt. I looked at the food before I left but I thought it was under the cheese. The guy on the phone told me to come back and he would remake it. I told him that I live east and they would be closed by the time I got back and he said that’s ok. They will wait for me. This is about a 30 minute drive from my house. Once I got there the guy told Ms. Tee what he offered me but she just wanted to argue. She refused to remake my food and only wanted to give me the toppings and have me drive another 30 Minutes back home to reheat my food with sour cream on it. So now my food is an hour and a half old and you will not honor what you told me when you messed my food up. Wow. My little sister got concerned because Ms. Tee was walking up on me. She thought Ms. Tee wanted to fight so my mother got out of the car to diffuse the situation. Who wants to spend $55 to eat cold food. Avoid this place. It’s sad that you can’t make your food the way it is listed on the menu but you want to argue with me because I expect what I order and I expect it hot after you told me you would fix it.
