BLENDED FAMILY FOODS — Restaurant in Lauderhill

I was very surprised with my first visit to this restaurant. I walked in and was pleasantly greeted by Shakayla. A proper greeting and good service is EVERYTHING! I ordered a Skillet Bowl for breakfast at $7.78, including tax; and it is filling and pretty good! No one can be all things to all people or hit the mark all the time, but today was definitely a HIT!! The service was great, as I stood waiting for my order and witnessing how Shakayla spoke to and greeted other customers. I immediately felt at ease and welcomed. Another lady briefly came out of the kitchen, and she also greeted me. The restaurant appeared very clean! And the Skillet Bowl is a nice portion. I'm stuffed and happy! Good job. I will be back. Edited review 9/11/24: I stopped by early this morning for another breakfast order. The young lady, whom I've never met, was at the register and placed my take-out order. She was very pleasant, which I appreciate. However, as I paid with my credit card, she literally asked, "Can you leave a tippy tip?" At this point, she'd only placed my order, I was ordering a take-out and hadn't received my food, and a TIP folks is (TO INSURE PROMPT SERVICE) I had NOT received my order or completed my interaction to know IF I WANTED TO leave a típ. I was appalled. But, I felt obligated to leave a tip because my food order was in her hands. I get it ... there is inflation. But, we are ALL experiencing it. However, "Tip Begging" has got to STOP. Me and my husband have ordered food from this restaurant before the first time it seemed there was an issue with the drivers through DoorDash. But now I’ve come to believe it’s them. This next time was even worse. Our Dasher gets to the restaurant was not acknowledged by staff. She finally asked if her order was ready for pick up and was told that my order had already been picked up by another driver. This was not true the nice DoorDasher calls me to speak to the manager just for the manager to tell me someone else picked up the order and that it’s not their fault because they verified my name through DoorDash. This was a complete and utter lie because it would have alerted me and the restaurant through the app that for one the dasher has picked up the order on my end and that the order was completed on theirs. It was still open in their end but still did not offer to remake the food that they gave away to another person because they didn’t in fact verify What and who that driver was picking up for. I will never order from this restaurant again. She didn’t even try to resolve the situation. She basically told me I need to tell DoorDash that my order was picked up so essentially I would’ve lost my money and not gotten the food. I reported the restaurant to DoorDash and I’m letting anyone else know you may have a better experience walking in, but ordering through delivery clearly isn’t this restaurants forte. I used the love coming to this place because they were very affordable and the food was good. I have been coming here for years. It used to be L&J Shack. Now, they have kids at the register that are not fit to deliver good customer service, their prices have doubled but they still show the old prices on the tv menus and online, the food is the exact same portion size, and the service is slow. You might as well cook yourself or go to McDonald’s across the parking lot. Use the McDonald’s app and get more food for the same amount of money. I don’t think they are going to make it long. I hate that too because it’s a black owned business. But you don’t do that to long time customers. Even a sign in the window that said something about inflation and sorry for the price changes, but we have to stay afloat, would make me feel better as a customer.
