Joan's Kitchen De VI Spot — Restaurant in Lauderhill

Ms. Joan at De V.I Spot has become my new favorite restaurant owner! Not only is her food really good but she is also very caring about what her customers need. I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Joan when I was looking for a place my grandparents could eat at because of their restricted diets when it comes to salt and sugar. Not only did Ms. Joan custom make two plates of fish for them, she also went outside of her regular hours to provide for us. On Saturday I tried the conch in butter sauce with rice and beans, potato stuffing, green banana, and plantain and it was spectacular! After eating it I instantly wished I had bought a second plate before I left! Her conch in butter sauce is so good I had to order ahead to make sure there was still some left when I got there, because once word gets out that the conch is ready it sells out within 3 hrs. Was too glad when a fellow Virgin Islander told us about this place. We sure weren't disappointed. I'm still dreaming about that soursop juice. By far the best I've ever had. Food was so good that we ate here 2x during a 1 week trip. Great customer service as well. I enjoyed on day one a plate of mutton with peas and rice and baked macaroni and of course my soursop juice. Left there with a delicious lemon cake made from scratch. Next visit I had the saltfish with rice and spinach. My mother had oxtail for both visits along with passion fruit. Stopped here for lunch today based off of Google reviews. I'm so glad I'm so glad I did. I ordered the barbecue chicken with rice and peas lunch special and it was fabulous, cooked to perfection. I had macaroni and cheese, absolutely delicious with that golden brown crust with just the right amount of crisp. I'm not a big vegetable fan, but let me tell you I've never eaten spinach and okra that tasted so good.
