Tucked into a charming shopping mall cul-de-sac, 7 Leguas Mexican Restaurant is a hidden gem in Lavonia Georgia that delivers both in ambiance and flavor. Despite it being a super bustling Saturday evening, (as to be expected), we were pleasantly surprised that the waitlist wasn’t long at all, and the staff managed the crowd efficiently, making sure that guests were seated quickly without feeling rushed while also managing the long checkout lines.

Our waitress met my mom and me with warmth and hospitality. She was incredibly accommodating—my mom is vegan and wanted to try the Fajita Piña, which typically comes with shrimp and chicken. Without hesitation, our waitress worked to customize the dish for her, making sure she could still enjoy the flavors without any meat products. This level of attentiveness and willingness to go the extra mile truly stood out.

The restaurant itself was spotless, again, despite its bustling activities. The decor had an inviting, authentic feel, making it easy to settle in and enjoy our meal.

Beyond the fantastic service, the food was exceptional. Every dish was packed with bold, fresh flavors, and the portions were generous. You truly get what you pay for! I had been traveling back home from Florida, and had a hankering for good Mexican food that didn't use rubberized cheese, and had authentic hot salsa. 7 Leguas (7 leagues for us gringos) was close to the highway. This was my second visit, and I had the Chile Relleno, chalupa, and taco combination plate.

They use real poblano peppers, real cheese, and I got the salsa off the salsa bar (they say it's hot, but I was weaned on New Mexico green chile, so it was good, but not at my level (I get Thai spicy 25 🔥 at Ruen Thai in Cornelia, GA). Anyway, flavor over fire that day, but everything was good! ¡Me gustó todo! (I can't give 5 stars until I've been there enough to know it's consistent... stay tuned) 👍🏻 Do I recommend? Absolutely. Not sure what you eat, but what I had was good.

I ordered the "Healthy Garden Salad with Grilled Chicken" and got what looked like chicken fajitas with bits of chopped lettuce. I asked the waitress if the cook could add some chopped green onions. She wasn't sure what they were so we had a conversation until I was confident she understood. What I got was a small dish with chopped Spanish onions. I asked her "What's this?" When she served me. She apologized and said it was a new cook. You and I know what she should have done. I sighed heavily and said I'd try to eat it. I was traveling and needed to get going. The meal was unquestionably sub-par. When i paid i told the waitress that the "cook" should work from a photo of the dish if he wasn't sure how to make a salad. I'll never go back but will be sure to tell others what happened to me....
