UPDATE So, despite my first disappointing visit and review (below) I decided to go back to try something different. I'm glad I did!
I had the sliced steak sandwich this time (forget what they called it - like Philly) and was very happy! The bread was soft, the meat was good and the extra mushrooms and peppers under melted cheese hit just right.
My friend has the double patty burger, and while it was overcooked (see last review below), he liked it.
So, I added a food start to the review and overall review. The cooks still need to learn how to cook burgers to temp (my friend was asked whether he wanted "pink or no pink" (a telltale sign they don't know cook temps) and it still was well done even though he asked for "pink."
FIRST BURGER REVIEW So, my first introduction to this place was when I had just eaten next door (there was a different restaurant that closed in this spot) and I noticed people were in here, although no real signage to show they were open, so they must have been new.
The place is very nice inside, good atmosphere. Sports banners and a few TVs can occupy ones time, and they serve beer if you like (it was 11:00 am so I just had unsweet tea). They had music playing, which is normally nice except this was too loud and the staff seemed to be at odds as to what to play since no song could finish and we hit three different genres from country to screemo to 80's rock. Kinda off-putting. Overall, good atmosphere! Music too loud.
The waitress was friendly and attentive (but oddly in and out of the restaurant to talk to someone in a car, not a bad thing, I guess. Distracting mostly (since it was 5 times).
I was the only patron since I wanted to get there as they opened. The kitchen staff seemed to be busy at work, prepping for the day and focused (it appeared).
I ordered the Mushroom and Swiss burger with the normal side of "pub fries." I specifically said, two times (because this is the test and I want them to get it right), that I'd like my burger cooked medium rare. Two times.
As you can see in the pictures the presentation is very good when the meal arrives and everything looks fresh (it should be, I'm the first customer, right?). And so I bit into the soft bread, crunchy lettuce, juicy tomato, all good, andn then... grey, dry, meat!
It's okay, there's really not many trained cooks in this area that know how to cook to temp so I wasn't entirely surprised (see my other reviews). Disappointed, I asked for some mayonnaise to get the powder taste a little more moist, and trudged through (I was hoping they had smashed the edges, which would be thinner and cook faster, and that the center would be, at least, medium). Nope! Very disappointing and a waste of money.
So, I'll try again at some point, and hopefully this review will cause some training and attention to detail. Some have asked why I don't send it back, but I feel that's a one-off do over because I've said something, and it's not my job to train the cooks.
So, to the owner, be proud of your success with your other restaurant (I haven't been there), but don't let your pride stop you from making this restaurant a success as well. Train, train, train... Any restaurant can put food on a plate and take the customers money.
I look forward to the next time because I really like the place, but I'm paying for the food, so hope it will have changed, if like to try the other food once the burger test passes.
I'll update this review when that happens... and, yes, I saw the other reviews, good and bad, which just shows inconsistency....

Read moreWe went to try their brunch after a post we saw on Facebook and it didn’t disappoint!! It was great and there were so many good things on the menu that we’ll definitely be back to work our way through all the items! Everyone was so nice. The two servers working this past Sunday were great! The owner/cook walks around and makes sure everyone is enjoying everything and is happy. The price was a bit steep for two meals and two sweet teas plus tip, $50 something for two people at brunch…I think if the prices were lowered just a tad, this place would...
