Outstanding Experience at Circa 1812!
My wife and I moved to Lavonia from the Atlanta metro area in September 2024. We used to eat out frequently and had many wonderful dining options where we lived. Since settling in Lavonia permanently, it's been challenging to find nice restaurants with good food. Although we've driven by Circa 1812 many times, we had never tried it. Last night, we decided to give it a shot for the first time, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the wait staff, including the owner Ron.
We ordered the shrimp and grits and roasted buttermilk chicken with rice pilaf instead of potatoes. My shrimp and grits also came with a salad, and I asked for the balsamic vinaigrette. We received a lovely surprise when they brought out a couple of homemade biscuits as a quick appetizer at no extra charge. Everything we ate was amazing. My wife and I continued to share bites, saying, "You must try this!"
What was as impressive as the food was the time Ron spent with us, even though they were short-staffed. We just want to say that if Circa 1812 were in the metro ATL area, they would be mobbed—they're just that good. We will definitely be back often and look forward to trying other...
Read moreThis is a nice new restaurant in the heart of Lavonia. We ate there in the fall and loved everything about it - the varied menu, the friendliness of staff, the main dining room in the beautiful old home. We tried to go back another time and were disappointed it was closed on Tuesdays. Finally got back there in January and found they have a brand new menu. The trout was delicious, as were the shrimp and grits. But his newer menu is not as varied as the old one, hence the 4 stars. I like to order entrées that I don’t cook myself at home. Steaks are something I can grill, so there are not enough choices to keep me coming back every 2 weeks, unless it becomes a rotating menu. The smaller dining area needs a bit of work to make it more of a warm atmosphere. It felt crowded (in the corner, against the wall!) and there was not much decor. We will come back, because we love going out to dinner, and supporting small business, and hope to see...
Read moreOur group ordered biscuits & gravy, fried green tomato Benedict, chicken & waffles, and the lumberjack. Shout out to the chef! They did a great job serving up good meals! Note to readers... I order biscuits and gravy everywhere I eat brunch or breakfast. I give a 98% on theirs. The gravy was cooked down properly, however the sausage could be cut up better, they use the flat sausage patties in their gravy. The orange juice is fantastic! The sweet tea is made just right... delicious! We sat out on the patio and it was a beautiful day for it! Nice lil cozy spot to eat! We made reservations for 11:30am Sunday Brunch and we were sat on time! I saved my con for last... the "powder room" had not been cleaned. The garbage was full and the mirror was dirty, and boys... put the seat down after use, thanks!😉 All said n done we had a good...
