Carlos Cakes — Restaurant in Lawrence

I don’t usually write reviews in fact this is my first one. All I have to say is that this was the worst cake I have ever had in my entire life. It’s crazy but I honestly wish I could I have my money back. I ordered a 1/2 pound cake for my friend and requested the words “feel better ❤️”. Please look at the picture and tell me that it isn’t a kids hand writing. When I first opened it with my friend next to me, I was beyond embarrassed. And the funny thing was that the writing wasn’t the worst of all. I know good cake when I taste one and this was smothered in simple syrup which is the liquid they put to keep it tasting sweet and fresh which to be honest didn’t do it justice because the cake tasted like old garbage. I don’t want to get into the frosting because it was disgusting, not fresh and tasted horrible. There was more frosting than actual cake and I’m a big fan of frosting especially Dominican frosting. This one wasn’t it.

For anyone who disagrees with me I recommend you try a cake from sweet grace heavenly cakes or Yeska cakes in Lawrence. Truly the best cakes out there. They taste beyond fresh and the Dominican frosting is more than likely homemade. There other frostings also taste just as good. This was my first time trying Carlos cakes and I thought that by the pictures they were going to be good… yeah no I was wrong. I got nauseous after eating the cake.

Side note: if you’re Dominican and want a caramelo cake. Order from somewhere else. All they do here is mix frosting with milk and sugar. I nearly through up.

Whoever made this cake please take some baking lessons and I mean that in the nicest...

I arrived at 11am on Sunday but they weren't open even though it said they opened at 10am. They ended up opening at 12noon. My roommate told me about this place and that it has a wicked good pineapple cream dessert that's to die for I guess so I had to try it! And OMG was it awesome! 👍 YUMMY! 😋 I ordered some chicken fingers w/fries, 2 coconut freeze pops, pineapple cream cake dessert w/a grape soda! The chicken fingers were ok 😕 but they didn't have any sweet & sour or BBQ sauce to dip em in! 🤷‍♀️ The lady that took our order seemed nice... Wow, very disappointed in this Dominican Cake I got from Carlos Cakes on Water Street in Lawrence. Looks like the cake was cut In half before frosting and why so uneven on the layers and so dry 🤬😤👎🏼 To much frosting and pineapple in the uneven parts 😡 won’t ever be going back to this place.
