Panera Bread — Restaurant in Lawrence

The word “inconsistent” is the best one word description for this location of Panera. Notice they have a 2.7 Google rating. Numerous times they have run out of food items which is occasionally understandable, but they also run out of cups! One time they ran out of tea and told me they didn’t have any tea bags to make more. At least 20% of the time I go to get a tea, the container is empty or has 1/2 of a cup left so one cannot get a tea without informing the staff that their dining room tea is empty. If this happened once, I’d think “stuff happens” but at this location it is a pattern. Today I ordered a self serve Sip Club unsweet tea on the App. I’ve been going to Panera for over 2 decades and the unsweetened tea has always been in the same container no matter which store you enter in (at least in Ks, MO, and NC). Today when I filled up my cup from that same container, I went to drink the tea when I made it home. It was sickly sweet. I called the manager and was told they changed their tea containers. I haven’t had breakfast there for a while and my husband never has so we had time this morning so we decided to eat there instead of order pickup. Awful mistake. I had to take my soufflé to have it warmed up, it was literally cold to the touch. We ordered a few bakery items and my husband ordered a sandwich. We waited 20 minutes for absolutely awful food. Everything was cold. I hate that Panera, you can hear every conversation, there is no noise absorption. The tables and chairs aren’t comfortable. The employees seem very aloof. There were people in front of us that ordered and had the same experience. For $30 for breakfast we will not come here anymore. We also ordered to go last week and got home and our order was not made correctly. 2 errors within a week, we won’t spend anymore money here. The other location is much better managed and the employees are better, you can tell when you walk in the door. If you have a restaurant on this side of town you have to bring your A game. ...

The visit for dinner tonight was great!! The team was friendly and fast. The manager Barb was totally running that ship tight! While I was waiting for my food I could hear her telling the kids what their Monday cleaning chores were, and she was getting onto them about being fast and making sure everyone’s orders are right. The director was there too which was cool to see as most corporate people only ever work 9-5. He came around checking on everyone eating in house and insisted on refilling my drink for me and taking my dirty plates.
