Let me start with saying that this was my go to Chinese restaurant when Foon Yings was under construction for almost a year. But that has ended with this one meal alone. My go to order is Sweet and Sour Chicken Combination Meal, which includes an egg roll and I also order a shrimp egg roll on the side w/ a drink.
This meal was extremely disappointing, after paying almost $17 for the food alone and then tipping $4 for what I thought was good service I feel bamboozled. I believe my entire meal was an old meal from a previous day. The chicken was OVERCOOKED and very displeasing to the eye. Truthfully they look like dried up chitterlings. The fried rice was extra fried and greasy. The egg roll that came with the meal was GREASY and SOGGY. The sweet and sour sauce was like jello and lumpy, which is odd because that is not the consistency of sauce. The only thing I was pleased with and ate was the shrimp egg roll which was still greasy because it came fresh out the grease, but they are now making larger egg rolls I noticed since Foon Yings reopened their establishment.
The pricing was okay, though they charged me $2.75 for a 16.9floz Dr. Pepper. I may be looking at this from a petty pov, but in this economy I think sodas should stay in a reasonable price range. Again I was excited to get the food so at the time of purchase it did not matter - but now I’m dissatisfied with my choices.
All in all I would say proceed with caution when coming to this restaurant. Previous visits were good and up until today I have never been so disappointed. Next time I will just wait the 90mins to get...
Read moreMy roommates and I were hoping to find a Chinese place open after a bad day. We have just moved to the area and we’re hoping to find our new go-to Chinese place.
We were greeted on the phone by very cheerful, very thorough staff who happily took our long, relatively complicated order. When we arrived, we were handed a large box filled with everything we had ordered to the exact specifications. We got home, and everything tastes amazing. There’s more than enough for each of us and we’ll even be able to have leftovers for tomorrow.
I got pork lo mein and their General Tso’s chicken. I love General Tso’s, but normally they’re not flavorful enough. This is definitely the best that I’ve had in a long time. My roommates got beef & peppers, vegetable lo mein, pork lo mein, spicy shrimp lo mein, sesame chicken, egg rolls, and crab rangoon. Everything was hot, fresh, flavorful, and delicious. She gave us plenty of cookies and all the sauces we could ask for.
We will definitely...
Read moreI should have read the reviews before I went first I placed my order over the phone, they didn’t ask my name or number but then I get there go through the drive-thru and she says come to the window. No greeting, just yells the price at me and I panic for my card. The result of the food: The rice is greasy and has no flavor, the noodles has a good taste but it’s borderline old or overcooked. The egg roll was good but almost sopping wet in grease. Oh, and the egg drop soup is the worst I’ve ever had. No wonder it’s free with the combination platter. The potion size was huge, and the price was under twelve dollars but I should have literally just made this at home myself, next time I won’t be so lazy. It could be because I ordered an hour before they closed, but I am not a fan and I believe in quality no matter the time of day! Thank you but no thank you, I won’t plan to...
